Shannen Doherty shares video ahead of tumour surgery
Charmed star Shannen Doherty warned fans on Wednesday evening after spotting a scammer on Instagram impersonating her.
The 52-year-old shared a screenshot of an Instagram message from an account called theshado_01, which is remarkably similar to her own username theshando.
The fake account seemed to have a verification mark and over 100 followers and shared some appreciation for “my fans” in the message, all of which could fool fans into believing it was really the Hollywood star talking to them.
She declared in the caption: “This is not me. Just an obvious fake.”
Fans took a lighthearted approach to the warning in the comments as a few shared their own experiences getting messages “from famous stars”, as one joked: “Great. Now you’re going to tell me the message I got from Taylor Swift yesterday because she needed to borrow some money is fake too.”
Another declared: “There is only one Shannen Doherty!”
A third, hopefully, joked: “So all the ray bans I bought from you are not real?”
“Jared Leto messages me often,” another hilariously added with a string of laughing emojis.
Some questioned “what’s the point” of scammers impersonating celebrities, but many fans have fallen victim to sending money, buying items or even falling in love with fake celebrities over Instagram.

The disturbing warning also comes barely a month after the Little House on the Prairie star broke down in tears at 90s Con as she shared a devastating update on her cancer battle.
Speaking alongside her Beverly Hills 90210 co-stars Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth and Brian Austin Green at the Florida convention in September, the actress got emotional and received a standing ovation with her remarkable honesty.
She reacted to the astounding moment much like her fans did to her scam warning, jokingly saying according to People: “You guys know how much I love crying constantly. And I do, it seems. So, thank you.”
Shannen was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2020 and has been facing an uphill battle fighting her prognosis.
She revealed the stage four cancer had spread to her brain and underwent surgery in June to remove a tumour in her head.
