Shirley Ballas has said she and her boyfriend Danny Taylor try their best to make their relationship work, despite being apart at times due to their respective workload.

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge has been in a relationship with the 50-year-old actor since 2019.

The couple met when they both performed in the pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Opening up about her love life in a new interview, the 62-year-old spilled: “I don’t think I do too well on the relationship side.

“Danny and I are always busy. But, we have have respect, we have trust, we have FaceTime so we’re constantly talking to each other.”

Their communcation, she added to The Mirror, usually consists of “beautiful messages”.

“I trust him, he trusts me. He’s too busy, I’m too busy.”

Shirley went on to gush about a holiday they enjoyed at the beginning of the year, but admitted they will now be apart for “five or six weeks”.

The judge made a joke about her relationship in a TikTok video shared on Sunday.

In the clip, she pretended to clean a large bit of flooring with a tiny brush alongside the caption: “When my boyfriend asks me to cook dinner and I say I’ll be done when I’ve mopped the floor.”

Adding to the humourous post, Shirley was seen looking unbothered as she laid on the floor with her head in her other hand.

She tagged Danny in the post alongside a crying with laughter emoji, adding: “Sorry.”

Shirley’s schedule is about to get busier with the upcoming launch of Strictly Come Dancing 2023.

The dancer will be back on head judge duties alongside her fellow panellists Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

All 15 members celebrities hoping to win the Glitterball trophy have now been unveiled by the BBC.

Those in the running to compete are; Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon, Layton William, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Eddie Kadi, Angela Scanlon, Zara McDermott, Adam Thomas, Nikita Kanda, Ellie Leach, Jody Cundy CBE, Bobby Brazier, Nigel Harman, Annabel Croft and Les Dennis.

Shirley has defended celebrities taking part who are not as well known as others competing.

In the same chat, she insisted that viewers “will get to love each and every one of them” just like they did last year with series winner Hamza Yassin.

“Everybody fell in love with him and learned what he did, and his love for animals and nature,” she spilled.

Shirley also expressed her excitement of seeing Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Angela Rippon take to the dance floor.
