Sinead O'Connor's fears for funeral resurface on day of service
Sinead O’Connor cheekily joked she wanted to outlive Bono so the U2 frontman would not have the chance to speak at her funeral.
In a resurfaced clip from 2018, the Irish-born singer teased she didn’t want the rock singer bleating on about her being a national treasure at her service.
Sinead mimicked Bono and what he might say during his tribute speech, as she joked: “Oh… Sinead wasn’t she so much trouble. Girls can be trouble. Of course, they’re supposed to be sexy and all that stuff.
“But oh didn’t we love her… national treasure blah.”
She jokingly finished: “Reasons for living. Must stay alive longer than Bono,” before adding: “Sorry Bono I couldn’t f*****g resist.”

It comes as the beloved singer was laid to rest today as mourners gathered outside her former home to pay their final respects following her death at 56.
Sir Bob Geldolf and U2 frontman Bono were also in attendance at the service.
The Irish singer was described as having a “poet’s heart” and a “remarkable soul” during a private ceremony before her coffin was cheered through the streets of Bray led by a VW campervan playing Bob Marley and her own hits.
Among other attendees at the service were Irish president Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, while more than 3,000 people gathered in her home town.

The mother-of-four become a global star and is widely remembered for the song Nothing Compares To U, written by the late singer Prince.
Sinead, who converted to Islam in 2018 and took the name Shuhada’ Sadaqat, had a Muslim ceremony and the eulogy was shared online.
Hosted by Imam Shaykh Dr Umar Al-Qadri, he paid tribute to the “beloved” songwriter.
He said: “Sinead’s voice carried with it an undertone of hope, of finding one’s way home. The Irish people have long found solace in song from the sufferings of this lower abode, and Sinead was no exception, and in sharing that solace, she brought joy to countless people the world over.”
“The more she sang and spoke about her own pain, as well as about the pervasive sins in society that she witnessed, the more her voice and her words resonated with listeners and touched their hearts. Sinead never stopped her search to know fully, exemplifying a life marked with a deep communion with God.”
