Stacey Solomon and Coleen Rooney led the many stars leaving messages of congratulations to England's Lionesses as they beat Germany 2-1 to win the UEFA Women's EURO 2022 final.

Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly led the team to their historic triumph at Wembley during a gripping game that went into extra time.

The game goes down in history as not only England’s first major trophy win since the men’s team won the World Cup in 1966 but also the first time England has won the European Championship in its history.

Celebrating the victory, Stacey Solomon shared a sweet photo of her family watching the game and wrote: "Amazing Lionesses…

"Well done @england. So inspiration and just epic. Our whole house was screaming."

Coleen Rooney also chimed in on the game, sharing a photo of the team being awarded their trophy and writing: "Amazing. Well done @lionesses".

Commenting on the victory, This Morning presenter Philip Schofield shared a few images of the game, writing: “Can hardly breathe here. OMFG! You legends!”

He then added: “Congratulations to every single person who worked so hard to get to this triumphant moment.”

Also commenting on the win was Love Island's Amy Hart who wrote: “‘I’m actually crying” and presenter Piers Morgan, who tweeted: “Bloody hell.. it’s come home! Congrats @Lionesses – brilliant.”

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker added: “Wonderful stuff from the @Lionesses.

"What a performance over the last few weeks. So happy that my kids are experiencing an England football team winning a major tournament.”

Prince William was also seen cheering on the Lionesses from the stands during Sunday evening's game, with the official Royal Family account sharing a message of congratulations from the Queen following the win.

A statement posted on behalf on the Queen on social media read: "My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to you all on winning the European Women’s Football Championships.

"It is a significant achievement for the entire team, including your support staff.

"The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise. However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned.

"You have all set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations. It is my hope that you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of the result today."

The Duke of Cambridge, 40, who is both a football fan and the FA's president, was seen shaking the hands of both the Germany and England team players on the pitch following the game, before the England team stepped up to be awarded their well-earned trophy.

It comes after Princess Charlotte wished England's Lionesses good luck as she appeared in an adorable video next to her doting dad Prince William earlier on Sunday.

Ahead of the big game, William and his seven year old daughter took to Instagram to share a supportive message.

"We both want to wish the Lionesses the best of luck for tonight. You've done amazingly well in the competition and we're rooting for you all the way," William said.

Chiming in, Charlotte then shared: "Good luck, I hope you win. Bye!" as she waved her hand and smiled for the camera.

In the caption, they added: "Good luck tonight @lionesses, we’re all cheering for you!"
