Stacey Solomon talks ‘magical’ home birth and breastfeeding journey with Rose

She welcomed her daughter Rose into the world last year on her 32nd birthday, and now Stacey Solomon has opened up about what a “magical” experience it was to give birth at home.

Speaking in a new interview, the 33 year old said having a home birth she planned for was “magical”.

She said: “I felt so in control and so safe, and I had brilliant midwives. I researched it, because it was a big decision.”

Stacey went on to reveal she has no regrets about welcoming Rose at Pickle Cottage and was aware of the risks before she and husband Joe Swash made the decision.

As well as Rose, one, the Loose Women star is also mum to three year old Rex with Joe, and Zachary, 14, and Leighton, 10, from previous relationships.

Stacey also opened up about her breastfeeding journey with Rose and revealed how she was better informed from her experience with Rex, who had tongue-tie, which led to her having an easier time with Rose.

“When I had Rex I had no idea tongue tie even existed, and I certainly didn’t know it affected breastfeeding. Some people still say it doesn’t but I can tell you it bloody well does. It’s fricking painful!" she said.

The mum-of-four went on to describe how Rose latched on straight away and she was "running with adrenaline".

However, after her experience with Rex she was better informed and able to ask her midwife questions, leading to her instantly recognising Rose also had tongue-tie.

The NHS describes tongue-tie as "where the strip of skin connecting the baby's tongue to the bottom of their mouth is shorter than usual".

Little Rose had her tongue-tie snipped when she was 13 days old, and Stacey says breastfeeding became a more positive experience from then on.

She added to Psychologies magazine: “From the moment they cut it, feeding was a different experience.

"It was immediately less painful and became all the things I thought breastfeeding should be. The more children you have, the more you know your instincts.”

Stacey and Joe tied the knot in the summer surrounded by their friends and family in the grounds of the beautiful Pickle Cottage in Essex.

Stacey’s sister Jemma and her close friend Mrs Hinch were amongst the bridesmaids, while Rose and her sons made for the cutest flower girl and page boys.

After her big day, Stacey shared on Instagram: "Forever. It all feels like a dream. The most special day that we didn't ever want to end."
