Strictly bosses ‘warn’ Anton Du Beke after going ‘too far’ with Craig joke

Anton Du Beke jokes about dance move with Craig Revel Horwood

Anton du Beke’s playful pre-watershed comment about himself and Craig Revel-Horwood allegedly saw Strictly Come Dancing bosses warn the star that he’d taken things “too far”.

The 57-year-old was reportedly warned to “tone it down” after he suggested that himself and Craig had done a lift while the latter had been nude.

He’d made the comment following a Samba performed by Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, which received a record-breaking 39 points out of a possible 40 – the show’s highest week five score in 13 years.

Quipping that Craig should have worn clothes, Anton went on to explain: “The only reason I’m telling you this is because I have nothing to say about this dance — it was pretty much perfect.”

According to a source published in The Sun: “Producers reminded Anton that Strictly is a family show and cheeky, subtle innuendo for the adult viewers is fine but he’d taken things a little too far.”

Express.co.uk has approached the BBC for comment.

Anton’s anecdote – “I said, ‘Why don’t we try that lift?’, so [Craig] came at me and I said, ‘Shouldn’t you put some clothes on?'”‘ – left many viewers in hysterics.

Taking to Twitter to share that they’d seen the funny side, one follower wrote: “Still laughing! Love Anton’s sense of humour.”

Another exclaimed: “I’ll never get rid of that image of Anton and Craig now!”

This isn’t the first time that Anton’s candid comments have raised eyebrows among fans, with a comment about his bedroom life with wife Hannah also gaining attention this month.

Speaking on Kaye Adams’ How To Be 60 podcast, he said that their bedtime routine each night involves him placing his hand on her bottom before they go to sleep.

“If she’s laying away from me [I rest my hand] on the right cheek, and so if I have to sleep on my own it’s not the same!” he told Kaye.

Meanwhile, back on the Strictly dancefloor, while Layton and Nikita were celebrating their almost perfect score, there was bad news in store for comedian Eddie Kadi.

Paired with pro dancer Karen Hauer, Eddie had delivered a Samba in time to Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez – but it failed to impress the judges, landing them at the bottom of the leaderboard.

The 40-year-old comic was in for a disappointment after coming up against Love Island star Zara McDermott and her partner Graziano di Prima in the dance-off.

Zara performed an American Smooth dance to LeAnn Rimes’ classic pop track Can’t Fight The Moonlight – and it was her efforts that had the edge in the judges’ eyes.

All four judges chose to save her and Graziano last weekend, with Anton explaining: “I thought both couples danced very, very well but for me [Zara and Graziano] had a slightly cleaner technique.”
