Taylor Swift is Time’s Person of the Year for 2023 following the popstar’s most successful year yet.

It follows her estimated billion-dollar Eras Tour, the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and her highly-publicized romance with Travis Kelce.

Time reporter Sam Jacob wrote: “Swift is the rare person who is both the writer and hero of her own story.

“Her path is untraveled, something she’s known for some time.”

Swift’s crowning is a departure for the publication, Jacob acknowledges, which usually names politicians or business leaders.

However, they argued that Swift has had the biggest influence on the world’s population throughout 2023.

“Every year contains light and dark; 2023 was a year with significant shares of darkness,” Jacob writes.

“In a divided world, where too many institutions are failing, Taylor Swift found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light.

“No one else on the planet today can move so many people so well.”
