David Schwimmer reveals he’s competing for his late grandmother and his ‘cancer survivor’ sister as he faces a kitchen dilemma on Celebrity Bake Off
From getting stuck in leather trousers to pivoting a sofa around a narrow stairway, Ross from Friends often found himself in sticky situations.
And it seems life imitates art for David Schwimmer as although he got off to a promising start on The Great Celebrity Bake Off, things soon fell apart – literally.
The Channel 4 show returned to our screens last night with the actor, 56, whipping up a meringue alongside Olympian Tom Daley and former Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson.
The actor, 56, explained he wanted to take part in the charity special because his grandma died from the disease, and so did his ex-wife Zoe Buckman’s mother.

He also told viewers that his sister Ellie had battled with cancer as well.
The Friends star said: ‘I lost a grandmother to cancer, my daughter lost a grandmother to cancer and my sister is a cancer survivor, so it’s important to me.
‘I am just grateful I can help in any small way raise more awareness.
‘I am here to have fun. I am here to raise money for a great charity. It’s a great cause and I happen to be a massive fan of the show.’
David, who is best known for his role in the hit US sitcom, chose to sculpt a rabbit-shaped meringue with a cashew and lemon curd filling.
However, his bunny started to crack so he attempted a quick fix.

Armed with a freeze spray, he tried to ‘glue’ it together but when lifting it up, the bunny’s ear fell off.
Thankfully, it wasn’t all a disaster as judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood praised the ‘delicious’ flavours.
David said: ‘I’m glad I got through the day without collapsing like my bunny did.’
The Stand Up To Cancer special features 20 stars, including Deborah Meaden of Dragons’ Den and presenter Paddy McGuinness.
It is hosted by Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, who will be replaced by This Morning’s Alison Hammond later this year.

After each round David came out on top winning every single challenge including the Star Baker award and managed to bag the coveted Hollywood Handshake from judge Paul Hollywood.
David admitted ahead of baking: ‘I make dinner, lunch but I don’t bake. My friends and family are very excited for me, they are big fans of the show.
‘I do not bake on a day-to-day or year-to-year. My expectations are so low that I think I might do really well for myself.’
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement as he presented his show stopper before being awarded with his very own Stand Up To Cancer apron in recognition of his impressive culinary skills.
