Vicky McClure downs beers with Line of Duty co-stars at her wedding

Inside Vicky McClure’s wedding: Actress, 40, downs beers and snaps fun selfies with her Line of Duty co-stars during raucous reception after tying the knot with Jonny Owen, 54

Vicky McClure let her hair down during her wedding reception on Friday as she partied with her Line of Duty co-stars after secretly tying the knot with fiancé Jonny Owen.

The actress, 40, had earlier walked down the aisle with her film director beau, 54, in a romantic ceremony in Nottingham, before later announcing the news on Jonny’s daughter Katie Owen’s BBC Wales show.

And Vicky was certainly off duty during the evening’s celebrations as she downed cans of Red Stripe Beer with her co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, as well as Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio.

The group looked in great spirits as they happily posed for photos together, with Vicky clutching onto her drink for the snap.

Things then took a comical turn as Martin, who plays DI Steve Arnott in the police drama and Jed Mercurio donned police hats alongside actor Craig Parkinson who plays  DI Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan.

Martin appeared to be the life and soul of the party as he snapped another selfie with writer Jed, while he also posed for a great snap with Adrian, who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings.

Captioning his selection of fun photos, Martin penned on Instagram: ‘Incredible day in Notts celebrating the best of people @vicky.mcclure and @jonathanowen71 nuptials.

‘First dance with the dementia choir was just beautiful and says everything about the two of them sharing their moment with the dementia team ❤️a few shandies were had afterwards.’

Meanwhile, Vicky also cosied up to her new husband in a snap from the party, with the newlyweds clutching a glass of fizz amid the boozy bash.

Jonny also shared a lovely snap with daughter Katie Owens, who looked gorgeous in a green fringed dress, before she had to rush off to present her radio show at 10pm.

The couple later announced their nuptials on her show, with Vicky sharing live on air: ‘We’ve had the most amazing special day and we’re gutted you had to go back but we’re so proud of you.

‘You’re missing lots of dancing but we can do that again.’

Other names attending the fun-filled nuptials included Football manager Rob Page, Everton manager Sean Dyche and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness also attended.

Earlier in the day, Vicky and Jonny were serenaded by the Dementia Choir – a singing group formed of people all living with dementia – which she helped to fund.

Vicky looked sensational in a stunning off-the-shoulder gown with a thigh-high leg slit as she posed for photos after the ceremony.

Her gown and dramatic veil fanned out behind her as she smiled beside Johnny in the first insight into their day.

Vicky held a bunch of pretty wild flowers, while Jonny wore a navy suit with a pale blue satin tie.

‘Tied up in Notts!!! Best. Day. Ever!!!!!’ Vicky wrote, as she announced the joyous news to her followers on Instagram after becoming engaged in December 2017.

A second photo gave an insight into the celebrations as Vicky and Jonny danced while the Dementia Choir performed on stage at the Metronome venue in the city.

The actress starred in a BBC One documentary series, the Dementia Choir, in 2019 which explored the vital link between music and dementia.

The show also documented what music therapy can do for those living with dementia as well as celebrating the personal journeys of the choir.

Vicky, who plays Detective Sergeant Kate Fleming in the hit BBC drama Line Of Duty, has previously spoken about her grandmother Iris’ dementia battle after she tragically passed away in 2015.

Two years on in 2021, she proudly announced that the organisation had become an official registered charity.

Vicky and Jonny met while filming Svengali, a film which Jonny wrote, in 2012, but she claimed to have fallen in love before they even met in person.

Welsh news site Nation Cymru reported her as saying on BBC Radio Wales: ‘When we first spoke it was on the phone. I came off the phone and I just knew.

‘I’ve never loved anyone more than I’ve loved Jonny.’

He added: ‘I remember we were walking down Southbank [in London] on a weekend break from filming and we were going to the Tate Modern and she turned to me and asked me if I fancied going to the pub instead.

‘And I was like, well, yeah! I thought, “What a girl”.

‘I think we almost simultaneously both went, “I fancy you!” It just tumbled from there and we haven’t been apart since that moment.

‘I was going through a divorce at the time and I’d been separated for seven or eight months. I think we went from “I like you” in the pub to “I love you” in about 10 seconds.’
