‘Wednesday’ Breaks Netflix Record in First Week, Surpassing ‘Stranger Things’!

Wednesday was an even bigger hit than expected!

The new series, starring Jenna Ortega in the titular role, brought in A TON of viewing hours and has broken a Netflix record previously held by Stranger Things.

The streaming service has revealed it’s weekly Top 10 list, with Wednesday at No 1 for television, as expected. It was viewed by more than 50 million households with 341.23 million hours watched, marking a new weekly record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language series on Netflix.

Stranger Things season four previously held that title with 335 million hours viewed for the week of May 30-June 5, according to THR.

Squid Game holds the overall record for ANY series, with 571.76 million hours viewed.

Wednesday topped the charts in TV in 83 countries around the world, tying with Stranger Things 4, and landing in the Top 10 in 93 countries.

While it hasn’t been officially announced yet, these viewing numbers could likely lead to a second season.
