Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer hits back at criticism with savage response

Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer has revealed the savage response he made to a hater who criticised his success.

In a conversation with his co-star Andy Jaye and comedian Kae Kurd, the trio discussed their fame and how people had reacted to them over the years.

Sharing his thoughts, Kae said: “It’s quite funny when you get certain people who go, ‘Well, I’ve never heard of you’.

“And you’re like, well that has nothing to do with my success, whether you’ve heard of me or not.”

Andy revealed he had the same experience, recalling a particular time when a doctor was “so desperate” to tell him he had never watched his show.

He spilled: “I remember a doctor was so desperate to tell me that they didn’t have a telly, desperate!

“You know like, ‘Oh no, I haven’t seen any of your shows, I don’t watch TV, I haven’t got a TV’. Like, course you don’t.”

Mike went on to say that he had received a tweet from someone who said they no longer watched his show, to which Kae chimed in: “What you need to do at that point is, log on to your online banking and have a laugh.”

“I do, I print off my statements,” the Wheeler Dealers star laughed.

In response, Mike went on to recall the perfect comeback he made to an online hater.

He spilled: “I did say to somebody… quite a good teardown, I thought it was funny.

“I said, ‘Excuse me I just lost your tweet, it went past, I was busy talking to the swimming pool guy about raising the temperature’.”

While the trader-turned-presenter was all laughs about the messages on his The Wheeler Dealer podcast, he recently admitted that trolls on social media had affected his mental health.

The negative messages, which have included death threats, led to him drinking “more than he should”.

He told Car Dealer Magazine: “I’ve had death threats.

“Regularly people threaten to rape my wife [Michelle] and daughter [Chloe] and murder me. People say they’re outside my house. I’ve actually had people at my gate.

“I wake up every day to a tirade of abuse. It happens every single day.

“It does hurt and it does affect me. And I can see my changing moods when I’ve read something that’s particularly disturbing. It affects my mental health.”

He went on to credit his “strong family” and his “great team” for helping him to try and stay positive.

“I’m just a regular guy that has done well, and I work b****y hard,” he added.
