X Factor’s Honey G is unrecognisable in new snaps seven years after ITV show

The X Factor cult hero Honey G looks worlds away from her days as a TV rapper in new Instagram holiday pictures.

Real name Anna Gilford, the 41 year old made it all the way to the quarter-final stage of series 13 seven years ago, mentored by Sharon Osbourne in the 'Over 25s' category.

In the time since her X Factor heyday, though, Honey G has ditched her trademark snapback cap, funky shades and baggy clothes in favour of the fitness life.

Offering her social media followers a peek into her recent New York City getaway, the star (who put her musical ambitions indefinitely on ice in 2018) sported a cream-coloured woollen jacket and bright-pink scarf with black trousers as the iconic Chrysler Building loomed in the background.

She also uploaded a selfie from Bryant Park while enjoying one of the many sweet culinary delights the City that Never Sleeps has to offer.

"Check this marshmallow out – it's toffee," read a caption.

Honey's ongoing transformation last manifested itself online back in August, with the TV performer snapped running around North London – five months after completing the Hertfordshire Triathlon.

Discussing her weight loss journey at the time, she told The Daily Star: "The weight loss has definitely given me the confidence to put myself out there. I've always had a bit of a complex about my weight and now I can shop in the likes of Topshop and Miss Selfridge.

"I used to be size 16-18 but I recently bought a pair of size 12 trousers which feels so good."

As far as an X Factor revival goes, an industry source revealed to the same publication last summer that boss Simon Cowell had "landed a big-money deal" with a production company following private negotiations.

"It has been decided that the time is right to bring X Factor back. It’s really exciting. Everyone who will be working on the new series can’t wait to get started," they said.

“Things are in the early stages at the moment. But the wheels are definitely in motion. It is hoped that production will begin at the end of the year. Producers want to recapture the magic the show had when it was first on TV."

It is believed that the show's "razzle-dazzle" will be forfeited as the makers want to re-establish that sense of life-changing competition it once basked in – launching the careers of One Direction, Leona Lewis, Little Mix, James Arthur and Alexandra Burke.
