“Still not perfect but I ran out of ketchup."

If you’re baffled at this unique hack, it's believed that it works as a result of the acid in the tomato sauce, as this is what helps break down the rust.

So if your rust remover spray that you spent a fortune on isn’t cutting it, you’ll need to head to your fridge for the savvy solution.

The post has clearly impressed many, as it has racked up more than 1,600 reactions with over 200 comments from people eager to weigh in on the odd but nonetheless highly effective hack.

One person said: "The thought of metal rubbing on metal sends shivers down my spine, good life hack though."

Another added: "The thought of using Ketchup or foil on metal to clean makes me feel so sick. I just couldn't do it… Looks amazing though!"

A third commented: “Very impressive!”

Meanwhile, someone else asked: "Guess what I'm doing with my day off next week?”

At the same time, another user penned: "Fab job thanks for sharing. Worth [a] try on my radiator!"

If you fancy giving this trick a try, but don't want to waste your Heinz, you can buy tomato ketchup for as little as 70p from Sainsbury's.
