Cleaning fanatics are using KETCHUP to sort stubborn stains in their bathrooms and swear it works a treat | The Sun

IF your kitchen sink needs a clean, don't rush to the stores just yet, as the perfect solution for making it sparkle is sitting in your cupboard.

According to fellow cleaning enthusiasts, as reported by Daily Star, the humble tomato ketchup is the cure to all stubborn stains – and they've got the results to prove it.

The cleaning hack, which has taken the internet by storm, is quite simple and straightforward.

Offering a helping hand, the gurus explained that all you need to do is squirt a bit of the popular condiment onto the affected area and let it sit for an hour or so.

Once the time's up, grab a clean cloth and give the sink a good wipe – and voila, it should sparkle like brand new.

Although the hack might sound rather unusual, people have claimed it works miracles and have praised the genius trick.

Someone else agreed, writing:  “Thanks to this group I learnt the tomato sauce around the tap trick.

“OMG it’s amazing mine was terrible. Left it overnight.”

Meanwhile, a third commented: “I just put it all around the base, left it overnight and rinsed it off and cleaned as normal. It was perfect.''

And a fourth added: “OMG, I haven’t heard of this before. I will be giving it a go tomorrow.”

But before you set off to see if it works, did you know there is a right way of opening the ketchup bottle?

A ketchup "life hack" tells Brits to twist off the lid and utilise the jagged point under the cap.

You then pierce the film lid, leaving a hole to squeeze the red sauce through.

Although the innovative new method looks quick and easy, TikTok users were left divided over whether it was the best way forward.

Using the lid to cut through the cover has split opinions, as many questioned why you wouldn't simply pull on the tab.

But some fans were quick to praise the innovation, with one TikTok user commenting: "I watched this at least five times because I can’t believe I never thought to do this – this is cool."

"I did not know this, I will try this next time", said another.

However not everyone was convinced, as one person suggested: "Just peel the tab off that they have so conveniently given you".
