Florence Pugh stars on her second-ever Vogue cover for the publication’s winter 2023 issue, with a spotlight on her high fashion sense and cooking capabilities. The 26-year-old “Don’t Worry Darling” star was photographed by Colin Dodgson and styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who selected architecturally compelling dresses that speak to the actor’s confidence. One such design is the plunging yellow Loewe number plucked from the spring/summer 2023 collection, which has waist-defining cutouts and a black bow tied at the navel. The ruched fabric of the skirt is gathered at the hips, but extends into a sheer column not unlike many of the “naked” looks Pugh has sported on the red carpet.
Referencing the hot-pink Valentino tulle confection that famously bared her nipples and made headlines, Pugh said, “I’ve never been scared of what’s underneath the fabric. If I’m happy in it, then I’m gonna wear it.” She continued, “Of course, I don’t want to offend people, but I think my point is: How can my nipples offend you that much? It’s very important that we do this. I know that some people might scoff at me saying that, but if a dress with my breasts peeking through is encouraging people to say, ‘Well, if you were to get raped, you would deserve it,’ it just shows me that there’s so much more work to do.”
Pugh has worked with the Valentino house and her stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray, on many other see-through moments, including the leggy, sparkling black gown she wore to the Venice Film Festival with exposed shapewear; the metallic sequined slip she chose for a party in London following the 2022 Fashion Awards; and the revealing microcropped polo and maxi skirt she changed into this past Paris Fashion Week following the runway show.
Pugh is fast becoming a style icon as she takes on critically acclaimed roles, such as her highly anticipated part as Allison in “A Good Person,” a collaboration with former boyfriend Zach Braff that she discusses in the article.
Ahead, see more from her shoot — featuring her impeccably textured blond bob, natural makeup, and alluring outfits — which she celebrated with a heartfelt Instagram post. Then, read the full editorial at Vogue, available on newsstands on Jan. 24.
