You can just leave bowls of the festive sticks around your home, but if you want to pack a punch and really fight off those grim smells, try boiling them.

"Boil a few sticks of cinnamon for around five minutes and then leave to cool.

"You can leave this on your kitchen counter all day to help combat those food smells," Polly said.

Make the most of air fresheners and scented candles

If you got any scented candles for Christmas, don't wait to use them.

The pro also suggested using plug-in air fresheners for a more subtle scent that will spread around the house easily.

Plug-in air fresheners are a great way to circulate fresh-smelling air throughout the kitchen without being too .

She explained: "We have discovered that the most popular Christmas cleaning product scent this year is pine, so I’d definitely recommend plugging one of those in on Christmas Eve to get the scent flowing around the kitchen and leaving it there throughout Christmas day.”

Use Zoflora after washing up

After digging in to your Christmas feast it will be time to wash up.

But moving around leftovers can stir up even more nasty smells.

Pouring a slash of Zoflora will not only disinfect your sink but will also help to banish smells.

Polly said: "Once you’ve finished doing the dishes and your sink is empty, pour a couple of neat capfuls down the drain and a lovely festive scent will fill the air."

There are plenty of festive scents to choose from as well, including Winter Spice and Cranberry and Orange, so your home will smell even better than it did before.
