THEIR similarities sparked a lawsuit earlier this year.
But one woman decided to see just how similar Marks & Spencer's Colin the Caterpillar and Aldi's Cuthbert the Caterpillar mini rolls are by conducting a taste test.
Becca spent £120 on Christmas food in M&S, and £50 in Aldi – buying as many dupes as possible to try in videos on her TikTok page, Becca Eats Everything.
"The first product I have are these mini rolls which are shaped after the bigger cakes – Cuthbert and Colin," she began.
"The M&S ones were £2.79 and the Aldi ones were £1.79. They’ve got the same amount of rolls in them – five in each – so is it really worth paying an extra pound to have what actually look like smaller rolls?"
Once she'd opened the rolls, she held them up side by side, and immediately noticed one major difference.

I was blown away by Aldi’s Christmas range, here’s all you need to buy
I tested panettone at shops like Aldi – the cheapest was the tastiest
"Unfortunately Cuthbert doesn’t get any eyes, just Colin," she laughed.
Becca noted that the Cuthbert ones were "a little bit bigger" and also featured different toppings – Cuthbert had chocolate stars while Colin had coloured sprinkles.
"When I did the comparison of the full-sized cakes, the Cuthbert one was not as good as the Colin – I have to admit," she said.
"Even though it was about £4 cheaper, it’s not as good."

She began the taste test with the M&S rolls, gushing: "The chocolate is absolutely delicious.
"The white chocolate is creamy and sweet, it’s not sickly, the cake is fluffy.
"The toppings remind me of Smarties.
"Overall it’s really, really nice. I can’t complain – it is a very nice cake."
She then tried the Cuthbert mini rolls, musing: "It’s got a white centre which is a bit strange.
"And in the cake, there seems to be hard, crunchy bits – not really a fan of this.
"The full size cake was better."
Concluding, Becca said she'd only give the Aldi rolls a three out of 10, adding: "I’d say that the M&S versions in this instance are way, way better than the Aldi.
"I’m sorry Aldi, I do love you quite a lot but M&S is definitely by far the winner on this occasion.
"The Aldi ones are not as nice and rich and creamy as the M&S one, and for me the crunchiness and the filling just doesn’t do it."
People were quick to have their say on Becca's review, with the majority agreeing with her assessment that Colin is the best.
"Aldi is amazing + I'm grateful for it these days – but M+S is better I every way – not just the cakes," one wrote.
"M&S is better, FACTS!" another added.
"Colin every single time nothing compares," a third commented.
