I bought the worst house on the street and gave it a mega makeover using second-hand bargains – but people are divided | The Sun

A COUPLE have revealed that they bought the worst house on the street and have given it a mega makeover.

By doing the work themselves and using second-hand bargain buys, the pair were able to cut costs, without scrimping on style.

Posting online, Elena and her partner, who live together in Toronto, Canada, gave a close-up look at their house before and after its overhaul.

In a recent clip, which was shared with the caption ‘oh the memories’, the duo claimed: “We bought the worst house on the street.

“And turned it into…”

At the start of the video, we saw pictures of the house prior to its transformation.

In another clip, Elena explained that in order to avoid crazy costs on the DIY project, she shopped second-hand for her decor items.

In the video, we saw Elena in a thrift shop, as she picked up a variety of cheap glassware items.

She said: “I love a good reusable piece instead of buying new.”

Seconds later, the TikTok user noted: “What I thrifted vs how I styled it”, as she shared clips of her new items in her home.

She bought a beautiful vase which took center space on her dining table, a dish which she used for baking and a glass dish for displaying her jewellery.

The TikTok clip of the couple’s home makeover, which was posted under the username @thishouse5000 just 18 hours ago, has quickly gone viral and has racked up a staggering 1.3 million views.

But social media users were left totally divided on the home transformation – while some were very impressed with the DIY job, others weren’t so keen.

One person said: “I'm in love!”

Another added: “It looks amazing now!”

A third commented: “Honestly impressive.”

However, at the same time, many TikTok users explained that they didn’t think the home was bad before the renovations.

One user claimed: “It's not even awful at the beginning!”

A second chimed in: “The before was cute tho.”

Someone else agreed: “Wait, I thought it was pretty before the renovations.”

Meanwhile, many others took to the comments to share their thoughts on the home’s pink bathroom, prior to the couple’s DIY job.

One interior fan shared: “Tbh the pink bathroom is better.”

As another posted: “Lowkey the pink bathroom tile is my dream.”
