I discovered someone had been living in my garage for MONTHS – I was stunned but how she looked really made my jaw drop | The Sun

A WOMAN has opened up about how she got the shock of her life when she discovered that  a mystery woman had moved into her garage.

In a further surprise twist, Kate Dood later found out the other woman had been living there for months undetected, and even caught a glimpse of her after she was caught.

Kate, who lives in Australia, said the stranger than fiction incident happened around seven years ago when she was preparing to move house.

Speaking about the bizarre turn of events, she explained: “So we had someone living in our garage and we had no idea.

“And the only way we found out was because I was moving out of my house and they asked me to grab all of my stuff from the garage.”

At this request, Kate became confused as she had never stored anything in the garage – or barely even set foot in there.

She continued: “I said there wasn’t any because I’m scared of spiders, which is definitely a legitimate reason to not put anything in there.”

But upon hearing that someone had been using her garage as a dumping ground, she and someone else went down there to investigate – and couldn’t believe what they found.

Continuing to share her story on her TikTok account @thelovedupco, Kate said: “We went down there together to have a look to see what was going on.

“Low and behold, someone was living there.”

Pointing to a picture of a sofa in the garage, Kate said: “We never saw the person in there at this time, but you can see their slippers under this couch that was already there, plus a sleeping bag and a bucket.”

She added that the duo also saw “lots of other bits and bobs that pointed out to someone being there.”

These included a pair of shoes, outfits, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a set of towels next to the bucket – presumably a DIY shower.

Kate went on to say: “We reckon that this person must have been living there for months.”

After initially thinking that it was part of an elaborate prank, Kate eventually decided to call the police, who took action.

She explained: “The police ended up locking the garage and putting a sign up to basically say, ‘Hey, you can come and grab your stuff but call us and we will do that.

“And, of course, that person was never going to call.”

And just when Kate thought that was the end of the ordeal, another surprise came her way – the woman reappeared at the scene of the crime.

The social media user revealed: “The next day we saw her pull the sign off the garage door and obviously storm away.”
