I gave my partner’s house a makeover with crushed greys and whites, but it's the fireplace that has people talking | The Sun

A WOMAN with a knack for interior design has shared how she totally transformed her boyfriend’s house, but viewers were left more interested in what she did with the fireplace.

Taking to her TikTok account, Laura Welford shared a series of 'before' photos of her other half’s place, which featured dark grey carpets, simple black leather sofas with mismatching pillows and several posters plastered to the white walls.

“I moved into my boyfriend’s house and gave it the woman’s touch,” she wrote over this.

A second 'before' photo showed brown wallpaper with mandalas printed all over it, a white fireplace with a square mirror sitting on top and a small glass stand with a TV.

Zooming into the fireplace, viewers could see a silver outline around it, diffusers on the ground close by and a wooden coffee table with a picture frame.

It wasn’t long before she got to work though as the first thing she did was rip out the entire fireplace. Shen then removed the mirror and redid the wallpapered wall – switching the brown to a grey and white marble effect.

She then covered the entire ground across the living room in a plush grey and placed a large rectangular mirror by the stairs too.

Panning the camera over the area, she unveiled the transformation in full as she’d replaced the black sofas with grey crushed velvet.

She also got a geometric coffee stand with white marble on top and gold legs, replaced the fireplace with a white cupboard and placed the TV floating right above it.

In the corner of the room, she put a fluffy lamp with gold legs and placed a chest next to it.

Many were left impressed with the transformation, as one person shared: “Much better! Love your carpet!”

But others were left baffled over one detail she changed in the room – the fireplace.

“Why would you take out the fireplace,” one person wrote with a crying emoji as another chimed: “why would you remove the fireplace”.

A third said: “I’d have cried about the fireplace. Could have been a media wall”.

“Aw I like a fireplace as centre, love that carpet though x,” a fourth said.

While a fifth added: “Nooo put the fire place back,” with a crying emoji.
