I got my drafty windows winter ready with a DIY ‘double insulation’ hack – you need a Walmart kit and a hairdryer | The Sun

A DIY-SAVVY mom has revealed how she’s prepared her family’s home so that it stays warm throughout the colder months.

She explained that a hack spotted on Facebook helps to stop the drafts coming in around windows.

Kelsey Argiolas (@qelsi) has garnered over 67,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares a glimpse into her life.

She took to the social media platform to give advice on how to stop cold air from getting into the home.

She said: “Are the windows in your house really drafty?

“This hack will help, I’m pretty sure I saw it on Facebook. All you will need is this kit and some bubble wrap.”

Kelsey held up a Duck window insulation kit from Walmart which costs less than $10.

The kit contains clear film and a roll of double-sided tape.

Bubble wrap is available at Home Depot.

She said: “You’re going to take your tape and do two rows all around the window.

“Then you’re going to peel down your first layer. Stick the bubble wrap to the first row, I’m going to double it up so that it’s thicker.”

Pointing at the tape, she said: “Now for the second layer that’s going to be on this strip and it’s going to be the clear film.”

Kelsey placed two lines of the double-sided tape around the window frame. She then put the bubble wrap over the window and secured it to the inner row of tape.

She placed the clear film over the bubble wrap and stuck it to the outer row of tape.

Kelsey said: “Now the fun part.”

The mom used a hairdryer to ensure the bubble wrap and clear film were firmly stuck in place over the window.

She added: “It might not be beautiful but it works. You can’t even tell it’s there.”

Hundreds of homeowners liked the post and took to the comment section revealing they will be trying the hack for themselves.

One person wrote: “Yep I need to do this to my apartment.”

Another commented: “Thank you, I need to do this.”

A third said: “I like letting the natural light in during the day. How do you open and close your blinds with it on?”

Kelsey replied: “I actually just keep my blinds open when I put it up because I use curtains and that can close off the natural light!”
