EVERYONE'S looking for ways to save money amid the cost of living crisis.

And while we're trying not to turn our heating on, and switching lights off where possible, washing isn't an area most people think they can save money on.


But one money saver has revealed one way you can cut down your time in the shower – therefore reducing your energy bill.

The tip was shared on the Cost of Living Money Savers TikTok account, in a video over which was written: "Yes you can reduce your bills by having shorter showers. 

"Shortest way to shower? Lather up certain areas before getting in the shower at all.

"The just use the shower for a minute or less to wash it all off.

"Minute or less!"

"Save money by reducing shower time to the max," the caption of the video read.

But not everyone was on board with the suggestion.

"I’ll sit in darkness and freezing before I give up my 10 min boiling showers lathering up in delicious smells," one wrote.

"It’s just my me time.

"Can’t do it," another added.

"I need at least half an hour in the morning to ponder my life choices and regrets while the hot water runs over me."

"I saved money by cutting back from 30 minutes to 25 minutes," a third commented.

"I literally can't do that with my hair. I wish but the fastest I can do is 10 mins," someone else wrote.

The comments section also attracted remarks from others offering their own suggestions for saving on their bills.

"Get used to cold showers," one wrote.

"Start decreasing the temperature. You will get used to it. Cold baths too, I've been doing it for years, I just sit in the Bath and turn the tap on, that way I adjust to it as it fills.

"Then give yourself good scrub with the towel to heat up."

"Cold showers are the way forward so many heath benefits as well," another agreed.

While someone else commented: "Have a sink wash and save showers for hair wash days."
