I live in a bamboo hut – there are 3 things I hate the most, including a downside to days with no sun | The Sun

THE luxuries of modern life have been temporarily abandoned by one man in pursuit of a rural dream.

His home is a bamboo hut but there are three things that he finds particularly challenging about it.

The rare days when the sun doesn't shine in his tropical paradise are one of them.

But even this is not enough to wipe the smile from Hungry in Thailand's (@hungryinthailand.com) face.

He has 42,000 TikTok followers, where he shares: “Thai food and recipes.”

His home is far from the tourist hot spots of Thailand, including Bangkok and the party islands.

Instead, he lives in the deeply rural Isan region in the northeastern part of the country.

It's located on the Khorat Plateau, bordered by the Mekong River and Cambodia to the southeast.

This traveler is building a more solid construction for his forever home.

So for his temporary home, he has gone traditional and taken up residence in a bamboo structure.

Evenings could be a challenge thanks to the insect population: “Mosquitoes at night," he complained.

And finally, conditions under foot were challenging: “Very muddy.”

Despite all this, he far preferred rural life over a city one.
