ASHLEE Boyson was just 28-years-old when her husband was brutally murdered while popping to the shop. 

But her grief only worsened when she discovered he was having an affair – and it was his mistress’ husband that had killed him. 

Lawyer Emmett Corrigan was shot in a pharmacy car park as part of a brutal vengeance plot that saw Ashlee widowed with their five children. 

In the months leading up to his death, aged 28, the dad-of-five was having an affair with his employee Kandi Hall, who was aged 40 at the time. 

Ashlee, now 40, has since spoken out about the devastating situation after years of feeling embarrassed that her husband had cheated on her with an older woman. 

“He just kept drifting further and further away,” she recalled in an interview with Dr Phil.

“A few months before Emmett died, I started really thinking that something was wrong.

“I didn’t feel the loving Emmett that I had always felt.

“The rational side of my brain would be like: ‘he doesn’t want an older woman, he’s got you’.

“It’s humiliating. Who wants to be the wife that wasn’t enough?”

Ashlee and Emmett met at university and got married five months later in 2004, with Emmett being murdered by Rob Hall, his mistress' husband, in 2011.

At the time of Emmett's murder, their youngest child Tytus was just six weeks old. The fatal affair had started while Ashlee was pregnant with him.

The couple's twin girls Bostyn and Bailey were six, their son Teage was four, and their second youngest, Kaleeya, was only 20 months at the time of Emmett’s death. 

The night he died in Idaho, US, Ashlee had been initiating crisis talks with her husband with no clue about his affair or what was to come. 

She wanted to “fix their marriage” after months of distance and begged him not to go to the pharmacy so they could talk about their problems.

Ashlee found out at 1:30am that night that her husband had been shot – and it was then that she first learnt of his infidelity.

She then found out that Kandi had been present at the death and held Emmett in her arms as he passed away. 

“I wanted to scream: ‘you don’t have the right to watch him take his last breath, he wasn’t yours’,” Ashlee recalled.

“He didn’t die fighting for me – he died fighting for her.”

The widow decided to share her story through a blog and book to help others heal and potentially save another person's life.

Mistress Kandi maintains that it was her only affair but claims she was one of many women Emmett had on the go before his tragic death.
