I showed off my wedding guest dress but people say it looks like ‘come hither lingerie’ and ‘sexy pajamas’ | The Sun

A WEDDING guest who showed off her dress in advance of the big day has been having serious second thoughts about her wardrobe choices.

Reactions to her selection have forced her to reconsider after she was told it gave off "come hither lingerie" and "sexy pajamas" vibes.

It certainly wasn't her intention, but she had been experiencing misgivings anyway, hence her appeal for guidance.

She took her dress drama to the online forum Reddit.

Respondents were forthright in their opinion on the diaphanous dress, saying it gave off more bedroom antics than wedding guest ones.

In her post, she showed an image of the frock in question.

"Is this dress appropriate for a wedding where there is no dress code?" she asked.

"I’ve never been to a wedding so have no idea!! Context – it’s in a botanical garden in Australia next month."

It was an aqua-green floor-length number, floaty-sleeved, plunging cleavage, and split to the thigh.

After seeing the good-natured and constructive response to her post, she was able to see she might need to look at other options.

"The dress has caused a lot more controversy than I expected lol," she said.

One commenter summed up the view of many when they said: "This is totally giving me 1950s come hither lingerie. Like the color."

A second asked: "It looks like lingerie. Are you comfortable wearing sexy pajamas to a wedding?"

"It's giving a boudoir photoshoot," said another.

Other commenters had a more dramatic take on the dress.

"The sleeves are making it look like 'I just murdered my husband' robe. Really all it’s missing is feathers."

Similarly, this fan said: "Looks like what you’d wear when your billionaire husband mysteriously gets murdered."

But this Redditor had some more sobering advice: "Either the plunging neckline or the slit, but not both. If you do wear this dress, you’re going to come off as attention-seeking."
