A WOMAN who learned the hard way to transform her damaged hair into a glorious mane has shared her secret to success.

Her locks were brittle and dry and she was desperate to find a solution.


Since finding something that works, she has set out to assist those also suffering from lackluster locks.

“I used to have incredibly damaged, brittle, thinning hair that would not grow past my shoulders for years," admitted Monique (@moniquemrapier).

“I’ve since learned how to transform my hair and now I help thousands of others do the same thing," she said.

She has a phenomenal following on TikTok of 607,000, where she shares her love of hair and beauty.

Anyone suffering from poor hair condition, she's here to help you.

“If I wanted to promote hair growth, this is how I’d do it," she said in her post, setting out the five stages for hair transformation.

1. Scalp Massage

“First I would start doing daily scalp massages for three to five minutes with a scalp massager brush," she said.

“This is one of the easiest ways to stimulate your hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth.”

2. Weekly Hair Oil Masks

Second on her list were weekly hair oil masks. She described these as "life-changing."

She continued: "I would start doing weekly hair oil masks. This is probably the thing that absolutely helped transform my hair the most.

“I saw so much hair growth after starting this and my damaged weak hair completely did a 360 [turn].

“Apply the oils directly to your scalp and massage them in and leave for at least two to three hours."

3. Increase Protein Intake

Her third tip was all about diet: “Third I would increase my protein intake," she advised.

"It is so important to provide the amino acids your hair needs for normal hair growth."

There was a good reason she suggested it: “Protein deficiency can cause hair loss and makes your hair more weak.

"Eating enough protein is important for hair growth."

4. Minimize Using Heat on Hair

You might have to go natural once in a while, because heat on the hair is a no-no.

“Fourth I would minimize the amount of time I use heat on my hair to once maybe twice a week if you absolutely need it," she said.

“You want your hair to have a chance to reset and thrive, it won’t have that chance if you continually keep damaging it."

5. Stay Consistent

Her fifth tip included several smaller ones. These included sleeping in a silk bonnet.

There were other useful ideas too: "Only rinsing my hair with lukewarm water, and not wearing damaging hairstyles," she wrote.

But she had one more suggestion: "I do a deep conditioning mask on the ends of my hair to keep them hydrated and avoid further breakage," she said.

Commenters said her tips had proved effective for them.

“I've been following her for a while and the hair oils have been the most useful," said one person.
