I went on a first date and knew it was a disaster from the start – but it got worse and even involved smashed teeth | The Sun

FIRST dates can be tricky to navigate – but sometimes they can go terribly wrong.

Going on a date with a brand-new romantic interest always brings some uncertainty.

But one woman has shared her story of a horrendous first date at London Zoo a few years ago.

Elena (@ElenaBjxrn) planned to meet her date at London Zoo, but things didn’t start off well

She told her HOW MANY followers on Twitter that the man asked her to pay for a ticket while he went in for free.

Elena begun: “I just remembered the time I went on a first date to London Zoo and at the gate he asked if I would mind paying for my own ticket, which I said I would, at which point he pulled out a 2-for-1 voucher, so I paid for my ticket and he went in for free.”

She went on to share how the outing simply went from bad to worse as the day went on.

“He told me a very long story about how he was ‘finally ready to date’ after having his heart broken.

“Even the way HE told the story it sounded like he pursued a female friend who wasn’t interested until she got her boyfriend to tell him to leave her alone,” Elena continued.

After being thoroughly put off by the bombshell, the singleton tried to make a run for it.

However, she says the mystery man bizarrely smashed his teeth into hers when she wanted to leave.

She continued: “I literally tried to run away at the end of the date saying I wanted to get a head start on my Christmas shopping. It was August.

“He then grabbed me into a weird headlock and smashed his teeth into my teeth.”

In another tweet, she confirmed the trip to the zoo was her date’s idea: “He was evidently on a budget (no shame in that) and I have had tremendous fun on free/extremely cheap dates in the past so I wouldn’t have minded that either.

“But he suggested it!”

Elena quickly followed up by commenting on the response, adding: “Lots of men are QTing this saying that he was a king or whatever, and if the man's main objective was to get a free trip to the zoo then maybe he was.

“But if his objective was to get lucky he failed miserably. I guess it depends what you want out of a date.”

She received a flood of supportive replies from fellow Twitter users who dubbed the man “rude” as well as telling their own disaster date stories.

One wrote: “This is……. Even teenage me woulda gone 50:50 so we each got benefit from the discount, what a rude man!”

“Ngl I laughed so hard at this tweet 😂.  Mine wasn’t much better though. I had a mad crush on a new guy in my area, then I kept seeing him with a girl and a baby, one day he chatted me up and told me it was his sister and her baby, she’d just broken up and was staying at his,” another shared.

“Congrats on netting such a thrifty individual,” someone else joked.

A Twitter user cheekily responded: “You should have said, ‘He’s not with me’.”

When asked why she believed the man should have paid for her despite her being happy to fork out, she gave the perfect response.

“I was quite happy to pay for myself. The slightly surprising thing is that he hadn’t previously mentioned that this would enable him to get in for free,” Elena added.

She also confirmed to her followers the guy in question did not get a second date.

“He didn’t, but not for that reason. I could *almost* respect the hustle but unfortunately he was also boring and creepy,” she concluded.
