WE all love sifting through the deals on the shelves at Home Bargains, right?
A former Home Bargains employee has revealed some of her tips and tricks that you need to know to make the most out of your shopping trip.
Every shop has its secrets and behind the scenes action – Jessica Harrison, from Burnley, took to Tiktok to indulge people in the store’s secrets.
She also revealed what the workers are unlikely to do.
The 19-year old, who is currently a student at the university of Manchester, worked at Home Bargains for four months from March 2021 to July 2021.
She said: “I worked Monday to Friday and started at 6am everyday, but there was no end time.

Jessica’s fun TikTok video saw her answer ‘no’ to a string of regularly asked questions about shopping in Home Bargains.
To questions including ‘do you do cashback?’, ‘can I see the manager?’, ‘can I buy more than two packets of paracetamol?’and ‘even if I send my kid to the other till with the other packets?’ – Jessica mouthed ‘no’ in the video.
She also responded with ‘no’ to questions including ‘can I push the till barrier open?’ and ‘can you see if you have any more in the back?’

Here, Jessica revealed her secrets to shopping in the store – including how to get the best sales and how to get your hands on sold out items.
BEST SALES
The former Home Bargains employee revealed the best time for customers shopping in the store to get the best sales.
She said: “The best sales in Home Bargains are just after a season has taken place.
“So just after Christmas is your best time to grab bits for the following year!
“I worked throughout the Easter period and when Easter was over, all of the decorations were drastically reduced in price.”
This may seem like you have to plan far in advance for the following year’s seasonal celebrations, but it means you’ll save yourself a huge amount of money with sales.
STRICT DISCOUNTS
Jessica also revealed most Home Bargains shoppers don’t realise that it is actually really difficult to get a discount on an item in store.
The former employee, who also shares a snippet of her day-to-day life on her Instagram page, revealed that discounts are rarely given out.
She said: “Discounts are only given when there is something wrong with the item, for example if there is a piece missing or something could be broken.
“They are quite strict with when discounts are given and the shop floor staff always have to ask a manager before telling a customer they can have something at a reduced rate.

“Even then the manager could still say no.”
Jessica admitted there aren’t many deals that aren’t already advertised to customers – but she shared one of her tips for making sure you get first dibs on them.
She said: “All I would say is that you should definitely be following Home Bargains on social media to find out the exact date when things are available to buy.”
SOLD OUT ITEMS
Former Home Bargains employee Jessica also went on to reveal what customers can do if they’re looking for a particular item in store and they can’t find it or it has sold out.
She said: “I don’t know if customers already know this but if you are in a Home Bargains store and they don’t have the item you are looking for, there’s something you can do.
“You can ask management to ring around the other local stores to see if they have the item for you.
