WHEN it comes to polishing in the home, it’s likely you reach for a duster and some trusty polish.
But one cleaning pro has shared how this is the completely wrong technique to adopt – and that polish is a total waste of time and money.
TikTok cleanfluencer @jillcomesclean encouraged her followers to change up their polish for a damp microfiber cloth instead.
She said that not only does it not do a great job, but sometimes it can actually make the dirt worse.
In a recent video, Jill revealed: “Dusting spray really just creates build up.
“A damp microfiber cloth is truly all you need,” Jill added as she showed how it worked a treat in her own home.

However, that wasn’t the only product that Jill said should be removed from people’s cleaning cupboards.
She continued to highlight three other popular products that people use every day – and share why they’re not needed.
Jill continued: “Stainless steel spray – you can get the same result by wiping down with a wet cloth and using baby oil to get rid of streaks.”
Next up, Jill said there was no need to add fabric softener to your shopping list when you can make just as an effective solution at home.

She explained: “Vinegar is a natural softener and does the same thing without the harsh ingredients and the build up.”
The cleaning pro then said that the fourth and final product to be avoided is glass and mirror cleaner.

Jill concluded: “Instead, try a wet microfiber cloth and then dry it with an ultra fine microfiber.”
She followed up her advice in the caption for her post, as she wrote: “Ditch 'em and switch em.”
