I’m a gynaecologist and there are four things you should never do…and why you need to ditch the scented bath bombs NOW | The Sun

IF you're a fan of a scented bath bomb or a fruity shower gel, then you may just want to take note.

That's because a gynaecologist named Taylor Passero has revealed the top four things you should never do when it comes to feminine hygiene care – and using them is on the list!

In the clip shared to TikTok (@gyno_girls), she shares her do's and don't and advises: "Don't use scented feminine hygiene products and don't wash your underwear with detergents that have scents and chemicals in them."

Dr Vanessa Mackay, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists explains that's because the vagina's pH balance doesn't respond well to anything perfumed.

"It’s a good idea to avoid perfumed soaps, gels and antiseptics as these can affect the healthy balance of bacteria and pH levels in the vagina and cause irritation.

"Use plain, unperfumed soaps to wash the area around the vagina (the vulva), not inside it, gently every day. During your period, washing more than once a day may be helpful," she says, speaking tometro.co.uk.

Finally, she urges: "And change out of those sweaty leggings and underwear right after the gym."

That's because yeast is a type of fungus that thrives in warm, moist environments.

According to Healthline: "Spending the day in wet underwear gives yeast the opportunity to grow out of control, leading to vaginal itching, burning or other signs of yeast infection.

You can reduce your risk of yeast infection by changing out of sweaty clothes as soon as possible. If you’re going to the gym, bring a change of clothes for after your workout."
