Quick and easy, lining your lips is an effective way to make your pout look more defined and plump.
However, according to one make-up whizz, there is a mistake that many over 40s often make – and it's only adding years to their face.
Erica Taylor, who's been in the industry for 25 years, shared the beauty trick to her 473,000 fans on TikTok.
Posing in a face full of make-up, the whizz demonstrated the stark difference between using a lip liner in two ways.
According to the beauty pro, this is particularly important to keep in mind for those who are over 40.

Using a dark nude lip liner with red undertones, Erica took the pencil and pressed it hard all the way down to her outer corners.
''No. Going all the way across the corner is a no,'' she said, explaining that this brings the lips down.
Another big no-no, the whizz revealed, is making a harsh, straight line around your cupid's bow.
Instead, Erica suggested a different approach, one that's going to make for a more soft, subtle look.

Rather than drawing thick lines around your lips, Erica recommended going slightly above your natural lip line and stopping just before the outer corners.
Once you've lined your lips, gently dab on the product and blend it in for a more seamless look.

The same then applies for the lower lip as well, she instructed before applying some lip gloss.
