A MONEY saving fanatic claims to have come up with a way to do the washing up without turning on the hot tap.

Mountains of dirty dishes will be piling up as the festive season gets in full swing.


But as the cost of living crisis bites, many Brits will be considering the expense of cleaning the cutlery with hot water.

TikToker @costoflivingcrisistips is no stranger to the sacrifices being made by households across the country.

That's why he shares handy hacks to save money on your bills and cut your expenditure around the home.

Sharing his latest piece of advice, the budgeting buff told his 80,000 followers how they could be savvy with their energy use.

He explained people could save money on washing dishes after cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

In the video, the TikToker is seen filling up a container with cold water from the tap.

The money-saving enthusiasts told viewers to put it inside the oven after you have used it to cook your meal.

Despite the appliance not being on, the heat will still remain trapped inside – which will then warm the water up.

The thrifty content creator added: "After a few minutes, it'll be hot enough to wash the dishes with."

He then films himself pouring his piping hot water into a washing-up bowl as he prepares to do battle with the dishes.

Social media users were impressed by the tip and flooded the comment section with praise.

One wrote: "Love this but its so sad tips like this even have to exist."

Another added: "Dishwashers use less water and are far more efficient than washing dishes by hand, but if you don't have one this is brilliant!"

A third said: "Cool idea!"

And a fourth joked: "Did anyone else think that they were turning the oven off to get a takeaway?"

Others shared their own suggestions for making use of the heat from the oven, such as leaving the door open to warm their homes.

But the TikToker was forced to reiterate his point after some users questioned why he hadn't simply boiled a kettle.
