THERE are a few reasons why you might miss the birth of your baby that might be excused, if you're lucky.

But for most doting dads little could stand in the way of them being present for the big day.

However, according to Anna, who is a labour and delivery nurse, dads miss the birth of their little ones all the time and some of the reasons they give are so ridiculous.

She shared some of the completely "absurd" reasons on TikTok leaving viewers stunned and baffled.

“These are in no particular order because they’re all absurd if you ask me,” Anna said before telling eager viewers, and maybe a few dads looking for an excuse of their own.

“Number one, He went to go get food,” the nurse quipped, “I had a patient, and I thought she was going to [give birth] fast.

"I told him that I had a feeling, but he insisted that he did not like hospital food and he went to get fast food… missed the birth of his child.”

The excuses didn't get any better from there, the second dad missed the birth of his child all because he put his phone on silent – no, really.

Anna said: "His wife was gracious enough to let him stay home while she laboured a little bit, but he wanted to get a good nap in so put his phone on silent."

The third dumb dad missed one of the most important moments in his life because ditched his wife in the midst of labour to go to a fantasy football draft.

"He said it would be really quick, so he went… missed the birth of his child," Anna said.

While feeding your cat is important, most people would hand task off to a friend or neighbour if they were in the hospital with the partner who was, you know, giving birth.

But not this dad who raced home to feed his fury friend and missed his baby being brought into the world.

"It was an outdoor cat," Anna sneered.

Most shockingly, one baby daddy "left the room to talk to an ex" who was conveniently in the hospital car park.

"I don't know what conversation they were having but we tried to call him, he was not answering," she jabbed.

Viewers were stunned by the half-baked excuses, one said: "All of these people got divorced."
