I’m an interior designer and you’re making your home look common with these trends – remove distressed furniture at once | The Sun

AN INTERIOR designer has revealed the three tacky things that she absolutely hates seeing in people’s homes.

Nina Takesh posts on TikTok under @ninatakeshofficial, is an Interior Designer and Remodelling Expert, and has amassed an impressive 1.7million likes on the platform.

In one of her recent videos, Nina spoke about the three common items that she would never have in her home.

She posted her video with the caption ‘3 things an interior designer would never put in her client’s home! 🚨’

Nina explained: “Three things interior designers would never, ever, do in their homes.

“If you’re doing any of these things – absolutely no judgement, hats off to you for being original, and the only one.

“Pots and pans on display – no matter how you display pots and pans, they’re never going to look good and by the way, they’re going to be dirty.

“It’s just not a good look. Even if you were to buy all new pots and pans, it’s just not a good look.

“It’s busy and it’s crowded and it’s an eyesore.”

The second thing that Nina would never have in her home are hanging plants.

She added: “I have received several messages from your plants and a lot of them have said that they would rather not be hanging from the ceiling and would rather come down and live in a cool planter.”

The final thing that Nina thinks makes your home look common is distressed furniture.

She continued: “If you have anything that is this distressed in your home, it must be removed at once.

“In fact, it should go back to the flea market where it came from.

“The reason is that the room is dictated by this piece, this becomes the focal point because it is so eye-catching and you don’t want the focal point of your room to be a distressed piece that just doesn't look that great.”

Nina’s video was posted just five days ago, but has quickly racked up a whopping 356.9k views.

It has 10.3k likes, 457 comments and 106 shares.

But regardless of Nina’s advice, many TikTok users disagreed with her and revealed that they love these interior trends.

One person said: “I love my pots and pans hanging 🥰 always and forever.”

Another added: “My distressed coffee table was $1500 you’re damn right I’m modelling the room around it.”

A third commented: “What's the hang up with hanging plants? I've seen these in some of the most exquisite designed interiors.”

Whilst someone else noted: “Most of these styles are actually timeless and beautiful. Unfortunately modern day interior design has become so boring and bland. Just like fashion..”
