AS 2024 draws closer many use the new year to think about sprucing up their homes.

Whether it be a new lick of paint on the living room walls or new tiling in the bathroom some go for big changes others go for small.

And whether you've decided to do a complete makeover or just change a few details, the trends for 2024 can help.

They can be built on existing themes in your home or can even just add a few decorative elements to your rooms.

Sarah Lloy from valsparpaint.co.uk tells all the trend predictions to help with your New Year home.

Statement features

Out with the subtlety, in with the conversation starters.

Interiors are going to be bold in 2024.

Sarah says this could be an easy trend to jump on next year as it can be as easy as adding some bold artwork to your ball.

Bright blues and greens are also expected to be trending in the new year therefore there are plenty of opportunities to ass statement features to your wall.

Abstract angles

A new trend in 2024 will be the use of unusual angles and abstract designs.

Sarah has explained that playing with abstract angles will be very on-trend next year.

And all shapes and sizes of furniture can be involved, from sofas to cushions, vases, and archways.

She also added that homeowners can introduce rounded shapes into a space, like arched vanity mirrors to give is a softer look.

70s revival

Interior design trends from the 70s are set to make a major comeback in 2024.

Everything from dark woods, lacquered surfaces, shaggy faux fur rugs and low furniture are expected to return to homes.

Sarah says these are great references to this easy-going and colourful decade.

Tiles

Modern takes on tiles are expected to be very popular in 2024 as they make for a great feature space in any home.

Sarah advises those who are going for a minimal design to opt for a straight-set tile or neutral shades.

While those looking for a bolder look can pull a feature colour from their existing home decor – and she suggests going for warm browns, deep blues, and greens.

She added that classic checkerboard tiles are set to make a comeback with the nostalgic pattern giving a vintage touch.

Maximalism

Minimalist designs have dominated interior design trends in recent years.

However, 2024 will bring with it a resurgence of maximist styles with bold colours, eclectic patterns, and luxurious textures.

Sarah has said that the trend will encourage a more fearless approach to design, allowing personality to be showcased through vibrant and contrasting elements.

Warm tones

The experts have said that warm colour tones and palettes will be a popular choice for homeowners in 2024.

Moody and dramatic hues including deep greens, rich blues, and warm earthy tones will be on the rise.
