I’m plus-size and proudly wear bikinis – just because I have tummy rolls and chafing thighs doesn’t mean I’m ugly | The Sun

A PLUS size woman has spoken about why she loves to wear swimming costumes and bikinis.

Laura Walsh, a body positive influencer across social media, explained that she doesn’t care if she has tummy rolls and chafing thighs – and that it shouldn’t stop others wearing skimpy swimwear, either.

Laura posted a snap of herself on holiday wearing a red bikini, as she opened up about body image in a motivational caption.

She said: “Just because I have tummy rolls and chafing thighs, doesn’t mean I need to be fixed! Period!!

“Bodies come in all different shapes and sizes.

“Some have curves, others have scars, maybe stretch marks, also muscle, and probs hair in places not deemed “appropriate” according to societal standards.

“But one thing that is certain – your body is the only body you get. And that makes it pretty damn special.”

Laura continued: “Besides allowing you to dance to “WAP” and bake banana bread as many times as you damn well please, remember that your bod also contains vital organs necessary for survival.

“Basically what I'm trying to say is that it deserves a lot of kindness for just existing.

“Your body is yours completely.”

But it’s not the only time that Laura – who also describes herself as a ‘lingerie lover’ – has spoken out about why she’s proud to show off her figure.

In another recent inspirational post, Laura shared a snap of herself in a two-piece orange bikini.

Alongside the photo, she wrote out the words of a poem that when read from top to bottom included the words: “I’m very ugly, so don’t try to convince me that I am a very beautiful person.”

But Laura said that when you flipped it and read the words from bottom to top, the messaging totally changed.

Instead, it now read: “Am I as ugly as people say?

Because whenever I look in the mirror I always think beauty does exist within me.”

And Laura’s 172k followers on Instagram were quick to agree with her sentiments, praising her for speaking out and making other women feel more confident.

One person wrote: You are beautiful, so confident and so alive. You are an inspiration to all.”

As a second wrote: “Wow amazing words.” As a third typed: “Looking fabulous!”
