I’m plus size – I tried to give myself an hourglass figure but instead I ended up with a ‘second set of boobs’ | The Sun

A WOMAN has ended up with "second set of boobs" after attempting to give herself an hourglass figure.

After sucking in her stomach for long periods of time, the 29-year-old has taken to TikTok to show off the bizarre results.

The viral video shows TikTokker, yourbestiedeeds, dancing in a crop top beneath the caption “I tried to give myself an hourglass figure but instead got a second set of boobs”.

This result is medically known as Hourglass Syndrome, where ab muscles become separated after excessively holding in your stomach.

After sharing the video with her 11.4k followers, the content creator’s comment section was flooded with advice and support.

One user wrote: “I fixed mine with breathing exercises!”

Another commented: “I think it’s just where some people's body store fat and that's okay”

A third replied: “Queen behaviour”.

The plus-size influencer responded to comments suggesting that yoga could help fix the "second pair of boobs", but said: “Mine are pretty even I thiiiiink but they’re all cute no matter the size”.

The Hourglass Syndrome hashtag on TikTok has racked up a mindboggling 15.6million views as the trend becomes more popular.

Other TikTokkers have also taken to the social media platform to share their experiences with Hourglass Syndrome and to warn others how the results are not safe or permanent.

Doctors have also warned against this popular stomach gripping method of achieving a slimmer waist as it can cause lower back pain, neck pain, headaches and acid reflux.

Experts have suggested that Hourglass Syndrome can lead to imbalances in muscle strength, posture issues and diaphragm problems.

Medical advice also states that holding in the stomach is not enough to flatten it, and the appearance of a person's stomach has more to do with diet, exercise and genetics.

What is Hourglass Syndrome?

Medical experts have warned against this popular method of waist slimming, but what is it?

  • Hourglass Syndrome (HS) is not an official diagnosis but a term used to describe the frequent "sucking in" of the stomach region.
  • The action pulls in the lower ribs and gives the waist a smaller, hourglass appearance.
  • When the stomach is sucked in for long periods of time, the upper abdominal muscles tense leaving the lower abdomen weaker and underused.
  • This can result in creasing in the skin and separation of ab muscles.
