WE'RE all looking for ways to cut down on our energy bills in the current climate.
And while many of us have tried the obvious ones – adding more insulation to our homes and blocking off draughts – there are also some more unusual ways to help.
Klaire de Lys has been taking to her TikTok page to share her top tips for staying warm in the winter, and recently shared one of the tasks she regularly takes on to keep her electric bill down.
"I’m defrosting my freezer," she said.
"The reason I’m doing that is when you get the ice building up on the freezer, it’s going to be using a lot more electricity.
"Now, normally, that wouldn’t really make that big of a difference.

"Currently, it makes a huge difference.
"Everything you can do to mean that your energy bill doesn’t go through the roof – I don’t know about you but I’m certainly doing it.
"And we use hardly any electricity.
"But that’s just how ridiculous the energy bills have gotten."

Klaire continued to add that failing to defrost your freezer could be adding up to £50 a month onto your bill.
"So if you have ice building up in your freezer, defrost it now, immediately.
"It really does make a difference – especially now."
"It's the little things that add up," she added in the caption.
Klaire was quickly praised in the comments for sharing the tip, with many admitting they had no idea that defrosting the freezer would help with the cost of living.
