The Dutch Queen looked sophisticated in a navy blue suit as she attended the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C, on Saturday, October 15. It was the royal’s second day in the American city.
Queen Maxima often alternates between feminine dresses and smart suits. For her latest outing in Washington D.C, the royal donned a pair of navy blue trousers and a matching blazer.
If looked at closely, one can see the subtle stripes on the blazer and the trousers – two items that Maxima has worn before.
Underneath the jacket, she wore a white shirt with a loose bow tied around the neckline.
She completed the outfit with a pair of nude Salvatore Ferragamo heels.
The heels were the Avola85 Nude Patent Leather Pumps, which had a chunky heel and a bow on the front.
Queen Maxima has worn these heels many times in the past, including twice over the weekend – for the meeting on Saturday, as well as for her first day in Washington D.C, on the Friday, when she took part in the CBDCs for Financial Inclusion: Risks and Rewards event with IMF Director, Kristalina Georgieva.
Friday’s outfit was very different to Saturday’s. On Friday, the Dutch Queen was a vision in all-pink as she donned a pink slouchy blouse and pink trousers.
She also accessorised with pink floral earrings.

As for Saturday, Maxima’s accessories included tortoiseshell glasses and a pair of dangling silver and blue earrings, which matched her outfit.
Her blonde hair had been styled straight and was in a side parting.
She wore minimal make-up, bar lashings of black mascara, subtle grey eyeshadow, and a slick of lipgloss.
The royal had also painted her fingernails red.
Royal fans were quick to comment on Maxima’s look for her latest outing. Most royal watchers pointed out how this look was more “toned down” than what the Queen usually wears, which can be “over the top”, according to fans.
Catherine Duncan wrote: “Max has toned things down and looks much better.”
Instagram user @luxmeagainpreloved commented: “Look at our Max rocking the classic business suit with a ruffle blouse! My favourite is over the top Max but this is a very good look.
“And let’s not forget that this queen is an economist who has headed up a UN department for over 10 years and who participated in important global forums to promote financial inclusion and literacy, particularly for the most at risk people across the world.
“This is truly why I admire her so much, and then she adds a great personality, a lot of heart, and all the fabulous fashion.”
User @h_k_bend said: “Love these shoes (the blue suit is nice)” and Florence Pit added: “Love these shoes badly.”
User @birdnerd327 simply wrote: “Love this look.”
This outfit was very pared down compared to a look Maxima debuted last week, which some fans were not keen on. The royal donned an all-pink outfit while in Sweden last Wednesday, October 12.
Analysing the outfit, Instagram user @ansgarden wrote: “I love her, but I have to say: too much of everything.” User @chumphrey added: “The dress has a lot going on. It seems to be a very formal dress for the occasion.”
