My daughter’s teacher confiscated her drawing of a pig – they told me it was inappropriate but I can’t see the issue | The Sun

A MUM has slammed her 11-year-old daughter’s school for saying her drawing of a cartoon pig was “inappropriate”.

Teachers accused the youngster of drawing male genitalia on a pig, Sierra Carter claimed.

However, the “inappropriate” sketch was done on the pig’s neck because it was supposed to be a bow tie.

A young boy in the Year 6 class pointed out that the bow tie resembled something totally different.

This prompted the teacher to remove Sierra’s daughters artwork from her and report it to the headmaster.

Sierra, from Michigan, US, took to Tik Tok to vent about the alleged incident and ask others what their thoughts on the drawing were.

Explaining the situation, she said: “Her teacher told me that my daughter had drawn something inappropriate in art class.

“And that a little boy had come up to her and made her aware that he thought my daughter drew ‘boy parts’ on her pig project.

“So, she went over and asked my daughter for all of her papers, to which my daughter kind of nervously laughed.”

According to Sierra, the teacher had heard the young girl telling other kids in her class to “shh”.

She continued: “My daughter told the teacher right away that she drew a bow tie.

“The teach proceeded to take all of her papers from her and then she said she had to give my daughter’s project to the vice principal at the school to handle.”

A few days later, Sierra rocked up to the school and sat down with the teacher in question and a social worker.

Once handed the art project, the mum couldn’t believe the drawing that had caused so much commotion.

She recalled: “I literally slammed my hand down on the table.

“I said, ‘to be completely frank with you, I am p****d’.

“Like, why are we sitting here right now and why was there a big deal made out of this?

“It’s a fr*****g bow tie.”

The teacher and social worker alleged to Sierra that the school’s headmaster told them to “write her up” as soon as he saw the drawing.

The headmaster was then brought into the meeting, who maintained that the drawing was not of a bow tie.

His reasoning was: “A bow tie is a bow.”

Sierra continued: “He proceeds to tell me that this time he won’t give my daughter a write up.

“But he was gonna put her artwork into a folder in case any future instances come up where she’s inappropriate.

“My daughter has never been inappropriate, she has never even talked about ‘boy parts’ or ‘girl parts’.”
