My grandpa taught me a tip for keeping birds out of your garden and eating your plants – I've seen it work firsthand | The Sun

A GARDENER has passed on the knowledge that her grandpa gave her.

She shared advice on how to keep birds out of your precious garden.

The expert (@needmorefarmsnc) shared the tips to keep birds out with over 25,000 TikTok followers.

"Here are our three favorite ways to keep them from munching on your veggies," she said.

"Hang CDs, you guys remember these?" she asked.

"Hang these on your garden to scare the birds away," she said.

"The reflection on them will scare the birds away," she said, holding up CDs tied to pieces of string.

The next trick she shared has worked from generation to generation and was passed down by her grandfather.

"Make a fake snake, you take a piece of black wire and shape it into a snake," she said.

"You can use thinner or thicker, I prefer thicker so that the birds can really see it."

She said that she's seen the trick work with her own eyes: "I've literally seen them come down to land, see it, and jump away from it."

She recommended moving the black wire every four to five days for best effectiveness.

Last but not least, she recommended getting some pinwheels.

"The constant movement will keep the birds away, this one is so cute," she said, spinning a cow spinwheel.

"Here's to bird free gardening!" she cheered.
