IF you straighten your hair everyday, then chances are you've considered having it chemically relaxed to save yourself some time in the morning.

After all, the treatment is pretty commonplace these days and promises to leave you with silky smooth locks for up to SEVEN months.

That said, one woman has got us second-guessing everything with her hairdresser horror story.

Earlier this week, Laura Jarvie explained in a viral TikTok how she ended up losing half her hair thanks to her stylist's massive oversight.

She wrote: "Thinking about the time I got my hair chemically straightened and the chick left to get lunch and it over-developed and half my hair snapped off at the roots…"

Laura then shared horrifying photos from the failed treatment – including the HUGE pile of fried hair which covered the floor of the salon.

Although Laura still had enough hair left to put in a ponytail, her scalp was left red raw by the chemicals.

And where large sections had snapped off at the back of her head, Laura was left with what looked like a partial pixie cut.

But now that her luscious brown hair has grown back, Laura is able to see the funny side of things.

She joked: "At least [the hairdresser] had her fish and chips".

CHILL OUT

I'm fed up of my neighbour always being in the garden when I'm trying to relax

According to haircare expert Philip Kingsley, chemical straightening treatments can cause "mass breakage" if left on too long – which is what happened in Laura's case.

He writes on his website: "If your hair is already delicate (for example, if you have natural tightly coiled curls, or heavily bleached hair), relaxers can seriously damage your strands.

I got my hair chemically straightened and the chick left to get lunch and it over-developed and half my hair snapped off at the roots.

"The act of straightening your hair out during the processing can sometimes overstretch the hair shafts. This leaves insufficient elasticity for your hair to withstand normal styling procedures, such as brushing and blow-drying."

Needless to say, Laura's clip left viewers stunned – and people urged her to take legal action against the salon.

One replied: "OMG that's so wrong. I would have cried."
