WHEN you've got young kids under your roof, your idea of what constitutes an "early start" changes dramatically.

Before becoming parents, we'd be patting ourselves on the back if we were up at 8 – but after kids, anything after 6am is considered a lie-in.

And during the school summer holidays, letting the kids blow off steam outdoors is the only way we can get anything done in the house – which is why our hearts go out to this Australian mum.

Recently, the woman, who lives in Sydney, received a rude letter from her neighbours demanding that she give her kids a 9am curfew.

The note – which was shared on a local Facebook group – began by sarcastically congratulating the parent on her recently completed home renovations.

It read: "Your neighbours have endured many months of construction noise and now we are being disturbed by your kids in the backyard early in the morning.

What's more, the woman's neighbours accused the kids of "disturbing the peace" in the neighbourhood.

Taking aim at her son specifically, the note continued: "Sometimes they are out very early around 7:30am and unfortunately, they have very loud voices.

But needless to say, it sparked fierce debate on Facebook.

"Seriously! My neighbours have four boys and they are out very early and I feel nothing but compassion for them," one member wrote. "We all need to show a little patience."
