My vent trick will keep your home warmer on chilly nights – and it only takes seconds | The Sun

A SAVVY TikTok user has shared a way to keep your home warm – and it will save you money too.

Taking to social media, life hacker Tanya keyed followers in on how they can keep their homes toasty.

"Here are some tips on how you could stay warm at home and reduce your energy bill," Tanya (@tanyahomeinspo) began in a TikTok video.

"Keeping your radiators clear allow heat to cycle it effectively.

"However, if you have limited space, then make sure to keep the furniture a few inches apart."

She moved on to her next radiator-related tip.

"Next tip is to use the radiator vials to regulate the heat and turn down the temperature to significantly reduce energy consumption.

"You'll be surprised by how many people forget to program their thermostats properly.

"Get that manual out so you don't waste energy when you're not at home."

She continued: "Something as simple as closing air vents during colder months really makes a difference.

Next, she talked about flooring.

"Did you know that wooden flooring tends to make a room less warm?

"Simply laying a rug can increase the temperature, insulate the floor, and prevent any heat loss."

She also added that a simple tip that you could do right away is to double up on your curtains.

"Or you can even use heavier ones," she said. "This can reduce heat loss by around 40 percent. And especially if they are floor length."

"Hot water bottles are great for keeping you warm during those cold winter nights.

"Use it under a blanket to keep you snug on your sofa while you binge on your favorite TV shows."
