IF you’d just cooked pasta to tuck into for dinner, how would you go about draining it?
The most common method is to pour the boiling water from the pan straight into a colander in the sink and serve up with your chosen sauce.
However, social media users have now discovered a brand new way to drain the dish – and described it as a total game changer.
TikTok cleanfluencer and home expert Carolina McCauley, whose profile is @carolina.mccauley, shared a video on her account titled: “How to drain pasta without burns or mess #kitchenhacks #homehacks #homehackswithcarolina.”
She told her 2.7 million followers that they had been doing it wrong all of this time – and that the right way is to put the colander on the TOP of the pan instead.
Alongside a video comparing the usual technique with her method, Carolina said: “Stop draining pasta like this.

Carolina said that this simple way is not only equally as effective but also a safer method in her eyes.
And her TikTok followers were quick to comment on the discovery, as they said it had opened their eyes.

One of Carolina’s followers even offered up their own unique tip to fellow cooking fans.
