People are only just realizing a game-changing stove hack which will make cleaning so much easier | The Sun

CLEANING your kitchen is a hassle, but a built-in feature on your stovetop could make that chore significantly easier.

Homeowners of all ages were shocked to learn one component of the stove is movable and will save you major cleaning time and effort.

The kitchen hack went viral in the "CleanTok" community, the section of TikTok where users swap their savviest hacks for organizing and cleaning homes.

TikTok user Gizelle Strangis was one of several people to spot the hack in action on the platform and record a video of herself taking advantage.

Strangis posted in response to another content creator's clip, which shows her lifting the stovetop straight up, exposing the area around the burners.

Many models of gas ranges and electric coil stoves include a movable top, perfect for cleaning crumbs and spills out of the stove.

When Strangis originally saw the hack, she couldn't believe her eyes. She went to her own stove, and sure enough, the surface lifted straight up.

A thin bracing bar even held it in place so Strangis could have both hands free for cleaning.

"You're lying. Oh my God," Strangis exclaimed. In the caption, she added, "How did I not know?!"

Another woman, Jessie Knowles, also recorded her response to the initial viral clip.

DIS-DRESS

I got told my outfit is too sexy for the office but who’s going to stop me?

"No freaking way," the skeptical viewer said into her camera, but curiosity got the best of her: Knowles stoop up and literally ran to her kitchen.

When she reached her oven, Knowles reached around the side of the surface, where she apparently found and released a latch – and then all she could do was gasp.

Just like in the video Strangis posted, the stovetop lifted straight up.

As Knowles surveyed the area underneath her metal stovetop, she still couldn't believe the revelation. "Nuh-uh," she said, shaking her head. "Jeez, TikTok."

"At least I can clean it better," she added in the caption. Other users in the comments section were in disbelief at the hack, and how long it had taken to learn about it.

"I’m 36! How did I not know this?!" one befuddled woman asked.

"Nobody ever showed me this, parents never did this," another person said. "Can’t learn if you’re never shown or told about it."

A few people warned homeowners and renters to check their stove's user manual before trying the hack at home, just to make sure the feature was included.

"Do not try this, if you’re not sure," one person said. "I almost broke the stove."

Coil burners are more likely to have the feature, while glass stovetops probably won't lift up.

The commenters who did know the hack already were appalled by the realization that not everyone was already deep-cleaning their stovetops using the method.
