Princess Charlotte, seven, stepped out at the Commonwealth Games earlier this month in a dress pattern that was remarkably similar to Kate Middleton’s jumper pattern from the weekend before. Charlotte’s navy and white print is a classic in the fashion world as will never likely go out of style. The nautical theme is also royally-approved, with the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan Markle and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall all sporting the chic pattern.

Princess Charlotte appeared to take a leaf out of her mother’s book and donned a Breton stripe at the Commonwealth Games earlier this month.

The seven-year-old looked adorable wearing a striped dress as she headed to day six of the Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, with her parents.

The young Princess looked very sweet in the dress designed by Rachel Riley, which is made in a soft jersey material with a classic navy and ivory Breton stripe.

It came complete with a signature Peter Pan collar and a lace-trimmed edge.

Kate is often tasked with the job of sourcing new and eye-catching looks to wear for royal engagements.

So it comes as no surprise that on occasional outings she will also rely on a Breton stripe.

The last time the mother-of-three wore the print was also this month.

The Duchess travelled to Plymouth with the 1851 Trust, where she joined Sir Ben Ainslie and the British crew in the SailGP event.

Kate looked sophisticated for the event, wearing a pair of shorts with gold buttons from Holland Cooper paired with a blue and white Breton striped jumper.

The royal completed her outfit with her Superga trainers, a favourite of hers for sporting events.

Nautical stripe fan Kate owns at least three Breton striped tops by ME+EM.

She loves to wear the pieces for her more casual royal engagements when she needs a smart-yet-laid back look.

Princess Charlotte reportedly has very expensive taste and likes to pinch another iconic accessory from her mother’s wardrobe.

Charlotte is “obsessed” with sunglasses, and loves to borrow her mother’s pair, a source told Life & Style Magazine.

They added: “When Kate can’t find a pair, they’ll often be found in Charlotte’s bedroom.”

Kate loves wearing dresses, and she has quite an impressive collection, becoming a royal style icon in her own right.

Though she’s been known to wear polka dots and plaid, Kate seems to favour floral patterns.

Charlotte is following in her mum’s footsteps, and more often than not, the mini-royal can be found wearing one of her own floral dresses, usually from brands like Amaia Kids and Cath Kidston.

In addition, the green coat that Charlotte wore to her Sandringham debut in Christmas 2019 is so similar to a coat that Kate has worn in the past.

It looks like a tinier version of what the Duchess wore during Christmas 2015 at Sandringham.
