Royal Family news: Prince Andrew branded 'bizarre' as disgraced Duke meets crowds at Sandringham | The Sun

PRINCE ANDREW has been branded "bizarre" after offering odd advice to Brits meeting the Royal Family at Sandringham.

As the Royal Family took part in its annual Christmas walkabout, meeting Brits and wishing them a Merry Christmas, the Duke had a rather strange encounter with some visitors.

Andrew, 62, stopped and ask a woman standing with her dog, “Cold feet?”.

She responded, “Freezing”, to which the disgraced royal replied, “Did you know the trick is to bring a newspaper? Stand on a newspaper and you insulate your feet.”

Onlookers were left baffled by the conversation, with one commenting: “The whole thing was really odd. Andrew stopped in front of us and blurted out the most bizarre advice about keeping warm. I don’t imagine the woman will be testing his theory anytime soon.”

Here’s when King Charles will celebrate his TWO birthdays

King Charles will celebrate his birthday twice as of 2023 – on November 14 and on the second Saturday of June.

The tradition dates back to King George II in 1748.

Unfortunately for him, he was born in November – a month that does not typically have good weather in the UK.

So he decided to celebrate his birthday on a date that would be warmer and, hopefully, sunnier.

He chose to combine his birthday festivities with a military parade known as Trooping the Colour, which was held in spring.

Since then it’s believed each monarch has followed the tradition.

The Queen originally marked her birthday on the second Thursday in June, but in 1959, the date was changed to the second Saturday in June.

The “massive” planning operation will involve work “across all government departments”.

Who are the working royals in the British Royal Family?

“Working royals” are representatives of the monarch and appear on their behalf at official engagements.

This includes going on international tours, hosting state dinners, opening buildings and presenting gongs.

All their expenses – excluding those covered by the Government for things like travel and security – which were previously paid for by the Queen, using income from her private estate, the Duchy of Lancaster, will now be paid for the same way by King Charles.

So who are working royals currently?

      • King Charles III
      • Camilla, Queen Consort
      • Prince William and Kate Middleton
      • Anne, The Princess Royal
      • Prince Edward and Sophie, The Earl and Countess of Wessex
      • Prince Richard and Birgitte, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester

When did the monarch first appear on banknotes?

Seeing her Majesty’s face on a £5, £10, £20 or £50 note is a shared experience for all Brits.

But did you know this hasn’t always been the case?

Banknotes have not been around for that long, and the sovereign has only appeared on them since 1960.

This means, when King Charles’ face appears on our currency in 2024, he will be only the second monarch, and the first king, to feature on them.

When is the New Year’s Honours list announced?

King Charles’ first New Years honours list will celebrate individuals whose contributions to society, their field, industry or community had a positive impact on life in the UK.

A list of approximately 1,350 names is published twice a year, at the New Year and on the date of the Sovereign’s (official) birthday.

King Charles celebrates his birthday on November 14.

The New Year Honours are awarded as part of the New Year celebrations at the start of January and those for the 2023 year are announced at the end of December.

Recipients of the honours list this year will have a scheduled event at some point in the upcoming year with The King or his regal representative to mark the occasion and award their medals or decoration.

Royals fans left shocked by Prince Louis Christmas day outfit

Royals fans took to social media to question young Prince Louis outfit on Christmas day.

The child royal wore a black overcoat with matching shorts and knee-high socks.

And it was the shorts fans took issue with.

Taking to Twitter one wrote: “Prince Louis looks adorable except for the shorts

“Absolutely ridiculous to use such an outdated and classist style convention on a freezing day. People are sitting with blankets.”

Agreeing another added: “Why is Louis wearing shorts on such a cold day?”

However, etiquette expert William Hanson said it is all down to tradition dating back to the 16th century.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, he explained: “It’s a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts.

“Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.”

Today’s touching moment between brothers Louis and George

While the Royal Family were on their annual Christmas walk on Sunday, Prince George could be seen guiding his younger brother in a touching gesture.

Body language expert, Judi James, said: “(Prince George) placed a hand on his back in a gesture of reassurance and guidance.

“It is a gesture William and Kate have always used on their children and they were using it again.

“But it was George taking over the caring role here and the sight of the older brother looking out for the younger, more boisterous one was like a flashback to the days when it was William looking after Harry.

“It was a moment of optimism too. William has always learned lessons from the past and perhaps his rift with his own brother will have helped him to encourage and build a stronger and more resilient bond between his own boys.”

Why do Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips not have titles?

Zara and Peter are the eldest of Queen Elizabeth II's grandchildren and the children of Princess Anne.

They don't participate in royal duties or have official status as HRH.

That's because tradition states that only those with a father in the line of succession can possess the title.

On top of that, Princess Anne turned down the Queen's offer of a title for her children.

‘Woke’ King Charles is ‘far more’ forgiving than previous monarchs

Writng in The Sun, Clemmie Moodie said King Charles decision to allow Prince Andrew to attend the Royal Family’s Christmas celebrations shows he is a forgiving monarch.

She said: “Andrew’s presence was the only duff note in the new King’s first Christmas Day at the helm.

“But it also plays into Charles’s very MO — he is surely the wokest, most right-on monarch in British history.

“While Henry VIII would have had Andy’s head — or quite possibly willy — lopped off by now, and Richard III would have whacked him in the Tower with nothing but Fergie for entertainment, Charles is far, far more forgiving.”

King Charles ‘likely’ to hand Camilla new Royal role which will ‘reduce over time’

King Charles ‘likely’ to hand Camilla new Royal role which will ‘reduce over time’

Speculation about just what form the late Queen's beloved racing stable will take in the coming months and years remains rife.

Camilla has a love of horses and ITV Racing presenter Oli Bell – who was labelled 'a lunatic' by Queen Elizabeth II – said the Royal operation would be in 'very safe hands' under her.

He told the Post: "For all that the landscape will be different moving forward, I think it's in very safe hands.

"I know first hand how much Camilla loves horses and also how much her passion for racing has grown in recent years.

"There is clearly an indelible link between the royal family and horse racing.

"I was relieved to hear her enthusiasm, passion and appetite for it."

Who decides who receives a New Years Honours award?

Whether someone gets an honour is decided by the honours committee.

Honours committees are made up of both senior civil servants and people who are independent of government with an independent chairperson.

All nominees are checked by various government departments to make sure they're suitable for honour and this may include checks by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) before their recommendations are passed on to the Prime Minister, and then the King.

Once all recipients have been decided and checks have been completed, the Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood at St James's Palace then arranges for the recipients to be presented with their medals by the King or other members of the Royal Family.
