The £1.50 Amazon buy that's just as good as a £150 dehumidifier for keeping mould at bay | The Sun

WITH the arrival of winter, the wet weather and heating can play havoc with our homes.

Though we might not be able to change the UK’s climate, there is a simple way to stop mildew in your home and it costs as little as £1.50!

Often mould will appear in out of sight spaces, such as hard to reach corners of the bathroom, kitchen or even our wardrobes! (Gross!)

Whilst you might be able to wipe down certain areas, it can be trickier to keep closets from going musty in the winter – especially with all that humidity in our homes.

If you’d rather not replace your entire wardrobe though, there is a surprisingly simple solution from Amazon.

According to Austin influencer Lauryn Bosstick, the online retailer sells dehumidifier packet which you can hang in your wardrobe and stop damp from collecting – if the doors are closed.

The mould busting bags come with their own hangers and have white granules that work to trap any condensation or mildew in the pre-made packet.

Sharing the product with her 168,000 followers, the Tiktoker told fans that the little bags were her new ‘favourite thing’.

“I cannot believe how well they work,” she gushed, adding: “I just had to replace my other ones because they filled up…so I’m going to hang these in every single closet in my house.”

The busy mum then showed how neatly her Amazon purchase tucked into her wardrobe, with her advising people to change them every 2 months – depending on how quickly they filled.

Unsurprisingly, Lauren’s fans were in awe of the cleaning hack and her video rapidly gained over 26,000 views.

However, there is another reason to get even excited about your next Amazon order.

With conventional dehumidifiers costing upwards of £150, it can be costly to protect your home from mould and mildew.

However, these nifty little packets start from as little as £9.98 for six which means you can easily stock up on a year’s supply online.

At this price, the wardrobe dehumidifiers will cost you let just £1.50 per use and can be added to almost any room in the home with no hassle.

It is not the only mould buster we’d recommend though, especially if you are worried about your windowsill.

During the winter months, this area can quickly become blackened with the spores being not only an eyesore but also potentially damaging to your health too.

You can quickly get things under control though, thanks to £1 spray from Astonish.

Available in discount stores across the country, the brand’s Mould and Mildew Blaster will clean your surfaces with minimal scrubbing and prevent new spores from appearing.

In fact, this cheap cleaning tool has gone semi viral online, with a recent Tiktok video by influencer @cleanwithsash about the product getting a staggering 141,000 views online.

Now you have these tools at your fingertips, you are sure to clean up!
