The 9 cheap beauty hacks Holly Willoughby swears by to look as good as she did 14 years ago – and one tip is FREE | The Sun

SHE'S been on our screens for more than 20 years, but former This Morning star Holly Willoughby barely seems to have aged a day.

Despite the 42-year-old presenter's history of 6am starts and previously hectic work schedule, she never looks anything other than screen ready – both on and off camera.

Holly recently announced she was taking a very well-deserved break from our telly screens and was in no rush to return to presenting Dancing on Ice.

A source said: “The last 12 months have taken a real toll on Holly.

“Everyone around her – family, friends and her team – all agreed that a really decent break from work would do her the power of good.

“ITV has assured her that there is zero pressure to be ready for Dancing on Ice even though she remains a much-loved part of the family."

Meanwhile, yesterday The Sun revealed Holly was not getting a big BBC deal.

So it blows our minds that Holly looks just as young – if not younger – than when she made her This Morning debut back in 2009.

Since, the former children's TV presenter has become the queen of daytime TV.

She's fronted shows including The Voice, Dancing on Ice, I'm a Celeb and Surprise, Surprise.

And with three children with TV producer husband Dan Baldwin, she's managed to keep a busy household afloat too.

But – even without make-up (she's known to post makeup free selfies on her 8.4 million-strong Instagram account) – she still looks as good as she did in her early 20s.

Thankfully for us mere mortals it's NOT just good genes, although Holly's mum Linda and sister Kelly do look pretty amazing.

Her make-up bag and cosmetics shelf is packed full of affordable products. Here's how to replicate Holly's look.

Garnier Micellar Water – cost £6

One of Holly's go-to products is Garnier's Micellar water, the brand she's an ambassador for, which can be brought from the high street for around £6.

The “gentle cleansing formula glides over skin” and promises to "effectively remove make-up without the need to rub or strain delicate sensitive skin.”

She first revealed that she was a fan of the simple but effective product in an Instagram post, revealing how she'd swapped the brand's make-up wipes for the popular product.

Holly explained: “I have switched from wipes to @GarnierUK Micellar Water in an attempt to be more sustainable.”

Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion – cost £15

Up next, she swears by Liz Earle's Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion, which is currently on offer at Boots for £15.

Praising the product, Holly said: “I use it every morning… I feel like it just takes down that redness and puffiness.

“It's got some nice natural stuff in it as well. That's my saviour that stuff.”

11skin's Bio Cellular mask – cost £22

Holly's also been known to have facials with celebrity facialist Claire Marie Peters.

Claire, who has also worked with Kate Middleton, revealed: "Wow! Holly Willoughby has seriously amazing skin to work with.”

She added that Holly had gone to her for one of her signature facials, which includes micro-needling, antioxidants, as well as a mask we can all rush to buy.

The product in question is 111skin's bio cellular mask, which can be bought singularly for £22.

Developed by Harley Street cosmetic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides, it promises to brighten areas of pigmentation, and tackle age spots.

Hair dye – cost from £8

Unsurprisingly, as their ambassador, Holly favours Garnier hair dye over any other.

But she really does practice what she preaches, as Holly has revealed she's a huge fan of their Nutrisse Creme and has even uploaded videos of her using the box dye.

She's said to use their 10.01 Natural Baby Blonde shade and has previously said: “It's one of those things where no one believes I colour my own hair, I do, I do it all the time.

“It saves me so much time sitting in the salon, so I do it at home.”

However, despite having learnt what works for her over the years, Holly said she's still always on the lookout for more skincaresolutions.

In a recent Instagram live video, the mum-of-three said, just like us, she has a list of pesky skin problems she wanted advice on.

Holly was joined by skincare pro Marcia Kilgore, the founder of Beauty Pie for a special “beauty masterclass”.

No one believes I colour my own hair, I do, I do it all the time

During the video, the pair chatted about Holly’s skincare journey and what she’s keen to incorporate going forward to – in her own words – “fight” the signs of ageing and peri-menopause.

Here, Holly reveals more about her skincare regime and problems, plus the expert dishes out tips on how to combat them and, in turn, achieve and maintain Holly’s trademark glow.

Suncream – cost starts from £10

Ask Holly her secret weapon when it comes to her skin, and there’s one thing that she ensures she does every day – applying SPF.

Yet, despite doing so religiously, Holly admitted that she suffers from something many others can relate to.

She explained: “My number one [issue is] pigmentation, which I know a lot of people have trouble with, especially at this time of year after summer.

“If we’ve been lucky enough to have a bit of sun, it’s like we’re punished with this pigmentation.”

Holly added: “I get it on my cheeks, and I’ve got it on my lip line – which I don’t mind so much as it’s like I’ve got brown lip liner on.

“I wear factor 50, I just don’t know how to stop it coming back.”

I do sunscreen every morning, I’m really good with that as I know that it helps

She added: “I do sunscreen every morning, I’m really good with that as I know that it helps.”

Luckily, the beauty pro was on hand to dish out her advice, as Marcia said there are three things Holly should be using to resurface the skin and reduce the appearance of pigmentation.

Firstly, she said that Holly is doing the right thing by wearing SPF every day.

She then said she should add Vitamin C, like capsules or even superdrops. And the last part of the regime is Vitamin A or Retinol, which should be applied in the evening to work its magic while sleeping.

Exfoliating – free

The TV presenter went on to say that she is a big fan of exfoliation as she loves the feeling of the “mega face wash” and how it removes all traces of dirt and grime.

But the ITV host went on to admit that she is “nervous about doing it all the time” as she fears she’s “stripping away natural oils and skin.”

The beauty pro’s answer? It all comes down to your skin type – and the weather.

Marcia said that if it was sunny outside, you are likely to be able to exfoliate more. However, in the colder months, you may find your skin is extremely dehydrated.

Therefore, she says it’s important to listen to your skin and if you have dry skin, opt for once a week, where if you are more prone to an oily complexion or suffer from acne, you should attempt three times a week. Any other skin type should try for something in between.

Holly added: “Let your skin guide you. Once you get to know your skin a little bit, it does tell you – you know what to look out for.”

Clay masks – cost from £3

Just like the rest of us, Holly is only human and wanted to know the answer to what to do when an annoying spot suddenly surfaces. And, yes, the big question – to squeeze or not to squeeze?

The Beauty Pie founder said that while it may be tempting – something Holly looked a little guilty of – it’s best to leave it alone.

But, if like many you can’t resist, there is an easy method to follow – and a clay mask will be your new best friend.

Let your skin guide you. Once you get to know your skin a little bit, it does tell you – you know what to look out for

She explained: “First I would recommend some kind of clay mask. It’s always good to have a clay mask around.”

“Then wash it off with a hot or warm wash cloth.

She then added that “if you have to squeeze” you should “use your finger tips and press gently around the sides of the breakout with two wet washcloths.”

Cleanser – cost from £10

Holly also shared how she's happy that she's able to use regular make-up rather than a heavy base for when she's hosting TV shows.

But she worried that it may be bad for her skin in the long run and that she could even “age herself” as she puts make-up on every day.

However, the expert said it's clear that Holly is using a good cleanser in the evening – particularly an oily or milky based one, rather than a foaming one.

Face roller with ceramides – cost from £4

From where we’re standing, Holly is just as young looking now as when she first bound onto our screens back in 2000.

But she confessed she can be conscious of dark circles and puffiness around her eyes due to “not much sleep.”

She added: “One side is worse than the other, I don't know if it's the side I sleep on.”

To combat both of these issues, Holly was advised to invest in a face roller with ceramides, which can be bought from Beauty Pie along with an eye cream for £29 if you're a member.

The product says it can “help visibly combat puffiness, dark circles and discoloration.”

“While the roller-ball applicator helps stimulate circulation.”

The beauty pro said this product is effective to not only stop puffiness, but also help fight against wrinkles.
